Hello,
This system is going into a clients home tomorrow and I'm at the end of my rope as far as getting RF to work consistently. Any help is appreciated. Here's the rundown:

Equipment:
Pronto TSU6000 remote and RFX6000 RFreceiver/emitter
Various home AV components (Tivo, Hitachi VCR, Motorola Cable boxes) most of which are behaving.
Receiver is Denon AVR-3803
AV Rack made of metal

Problem:
I can't get the Devon receiver to consistently switch sources via RF. It worked Friday after reprogramming the codes while the device was in RF mode but it hasn't worked since Monday (yesterday 11/10).

Fixes tried:
1. Taping/untaping the IR blaster area on the RFX6000. This has been tried in conjunction with the fixes mentioned below.

2. Reprogramming the TSU6000 device codes for all components three times. 1 time in IR mode, twice in RF mode.

3. Repositioning the RF receiver. The metal rack seemed to be causing a problem with the RF receiver mounted inside it so it's now as far away as the cables will allow. I now get a flashing status light when codes are sent to the RFX6000. I'm hoping this means that I am receiving complete codes.

4. Physically moving the rack to another location in our shop. This doesn't seem to have helped or hurt.

Thank you in advance,
David

David,

The RF reciever for the Pronto has always worked better for me when it's perpendicular to the floor. Just my .02

David,

In my experience, there is no right or wrong place to put the RFX 6000. The building that you are working in will dictate this. One thing that always helps is to get the receiver as far as possible from the other A/V equipment. Proximity of Motorola (especially HD) cable boxes are really a problem for the RF receiver.

As a rule, my company makes extensions for the IR and power connections. This gives our programming staff the ability to tweak the RF response to our hearts content.

Last comment -

A good portion of our installations include a Denon A/V receiver. How are you controlling this - flasher or wire to the "room to room" port on the back? When using a flasher, Denon receivers are very easy to overdrive, or "blind" with a strong IR signal. If I am forced to use a flasher, I will often move it off to the side of IR receiver. You can also put a resitor in line for a more accurate result. Both of these options have worked for me every time I've encountered problems controlling a Denon.

Hope any of this helps,

Jason

Thanks for the replies. I'll try everything mentioned.

Another bit of info: The led on the RF receiver is always on but flashes when codes are sent over RF to it.
And I've already replaced the RFX6000 early in the battle.

Wish me luck and send more help if you can!

Sounds like your wasting time trying to make this work in the shop..... Everything is going to Chage RF wise in the new enviroment.

For what its worth, I also have had much better reception in the RV77's (RFX is the same) when they are Vertically mounted instead of Horizontal.
ALso, keep them away from Wall Wort type power supplies

We've seen an odd coincidence with the RFX6000: When any part of the RFX6000 crosses a digital coax cable (flashers, power cord, etc.) we've seen sporadic malfunctions occur. I'm not saying that this is more than a coincidence, but you could look at that. I certainly can't explain it...
