Theater install with samsung ts160. Signal meter says I have great signal, but I don't receive hd channels.
Sometimes when i check signal with receiver i get wrong sat message. And also while watching regular sat on this receiver, sometimes while channel changing the wait while guide is loading message appears. what gives??

ps.. I was able to view hd channels for maybe 10 minutes twice.

Except for the last sentence, you could get exactly this with a single LNB. The sat receiver cannot prove that the multiswitch worked when the receiver sent up 13 or 17 volts, or did or did not send up tone. Now, if the guide information that it has tells it there should be channels on some transponder and there are none, you will get a message.

But think about this: if you hook up an old single-LNB dish to an HD receiver and tell the receiver to check signal strength on, say, tranny 22, it will tell you there is good signal on 101, then on 119 (or 110, I forget which one uses tranny 22). Even if there is only signal coming from the one LNB pointed at 101.

So check your connections, swap out the multiswitch. Heck, it is even possible that 22 kHz is not going up the line so the multiswitch is working fine but the sat is not giving it signal to respond to!
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

It is possible that the coax wire might just be too long and the switch is having a difficult time holding the relay (in the multiswitch) to sat B. The only time I've ever seen 'wrong sat' is with dishnet, but I always configure Directvs receivers to the correct number of LNBs.

You should have a DirecTV logo on ch 99, spanish on ch 400. Please verify for a few minutes on each of these.

Latest problem is we can't get any signal except on sat 101. We get 99-100% strength on that one and nothing else. We will be back out there on friday with a better signal meter. we will try walking around the yard to make sure it not a tree issue.
