Broken into 3 parts.

CEDIA defends "Electronic Lifestyles®" Trademark, denies claims of Bose suit
Association has held trademarked slogan since 1998

Indianapolis, Ind - Bose Corporation has filed suit in the United States Patent and Trademark Office to cancel CEDIA's four federal trademark registrations for its mark "Electronic Lifestyles®." CEDIA began using "Electronic Lifestyles" in 1995 in connection with the association's non-profit activities. In 1998 and 1999, CEDIA received four federal trademark registrations for "Electronic Lifestyles."

Bose, which is a CEDIA member, markets a line of loudspeakers known as "Lifestyle®." In its suit, Bose claims that CEDIA's "Electronic Lifestyles" trademark so resembles Bose's "Lifestyle" trademark as to cause confusion. CEDIA denies that confusion exists or is likely, and CEDIA is defending the proceeding vigorously.

Ray Lepper, CEDIA's President, said: "We are extremely disappointed that Bose has taken this drastic action to cancel CEDIA's trademark registrations. CEDIA is a non-profit trade association dedicated to improving our members' businesses and promoting the custom electronic industry. CEDIA does not manufacture or sell loudspeakers - or any physical product under the "Electronic Lifestyles" trademark. We believe it is ludicrous for Bose to maintain that our trade association's "Electronic Lifestyles" mark could give rise to confusion based on Bose's "Lifestyle" line of loudspeakers.

Moreover," continued Lepper, "this association has been built by the long, tireless efforts of thousands of volunteers and sponsors, and to have our trademark challenged in this manner by one of our very own members is very disturbing. To sue one's own association is wholly inconsistent with the spirit of cooperation and sacrifice that is the hallmark of the true CEDIA member."

Billilynne Keller, Executive Director of CEDIA said: "While other manufacturers are busy donating funds and products to CEDIA, Bose is spending its resources pursuing legal proceedings against our association, causing us to spend untold thousands of dollars of our members' money in legal fees, and wasting staff's time that could be better spent promoting the association and the industry. We would much rather see Bose work for our association, instead of against it."

Next year I'll be wearing an anti-Bose shirt. Just let them try to have it removed.

Lets play hardball BOSE!

Time to email Bill at over at the FOX network!

Now I've heard it all.

I used to respect the company, not it's product. Now I respect neither.

Many people have stated that Bose marketing is their largest expense, I have been told by many different people over the past fifteen years that the biggest chunk of their budget is actually the legal department. I have never had any respect for Bose, this just brings it to a new low.

More lawyers at Bose must be bored these days. So If they win, Do they get the name "Electronic Lifestyles" too? This looks to be a case at who can throw away the most money. Anyone see the movie Devil's Advocate w/ Keanu Reeves?
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

Maybe Bose needs to sue the Lifestyle condom company also for promoting a "Lifestyle" product. Or any of these:

As always, Bose is putting their money where it counts.

The bottom line is everything! Right!

Wow, this is better than any soap opera:

Let's see, AVAD is a big CEDIA supporter; CEDIA is a big AVAD supporter; AVAD picks-up the Bose line; AVAD starts D2B to be supported by dealers and hand shakes with CEDIA on the deal, D2B designed to feed $$$ to AVAD to push BOSE custom systems to builders to yet take more $$ out of dealer/installers pockets; Bose files lawsuit against CEDIA over goofy trademarks;
Damn it, commercial:

ok... so.. those who spend biiig bucks on Boxes Of Sh*t Electronics, who don't Buy Other Sound Equipment, in addition to playing inflated prices to support advertising are now also paying for Amar's lawyers...

uh huh...

That's almost as ghey as Rosie O'Donnell suing Rosie105 in Portland, Oregon for using her name... Nevermind that Rosie105 had been using that name for 10 years before anyone knew who O'Donnell was......

We can do it my way, or we can do it my way while I yell. The choice is yours.

Remember times on your school playgrounds when you played say... soccer, kickball, foursquare, etc. and you sucked at it compared to other kids (most of us have something we suck at). If you looked around and realized that you REALLY sucked at it and you continually got your ass trounced you had a choice... keep trying until you get good enough to challenge some of the better players, quit and never play again or go away crying to a teacher or principal and tell them that the guys who beat you threw snakes in the girls bathroom or something like that.

Bose is that crybaby little f--k that you just wanted to pound his head into the corner of the sandbox... Gee you assbites...sorry that your entry into our world is frought with so much whacked design... sorry that your speakers sound like crap and the people around this industry understand that and are actively showing people better sounding stuff instead of falling for your spiffs and contests. You realize you are in over your heads and all of the marketing dollars in the world are not going to make you a viable alternative to Crestron (or much of anything else either... I like MTX speakers a lot more). SO you have the unmitigated audacity to turn on an organization that has bought you into this world... given you a way to market BuiltInvisible (oops... I better watch using that name in my post or else I'll get sued) to people who never would have given it even a chance... in a sense, tried to help you become a better soccer player instead of just kicking your ass.

I use my analogy because I was kind of a fat kid and when I started playing soccer I sucked. I enjoyed the challenge though and used it to get better. By the time I was in high school I was one of the best players in the county and went on to a college team. Now there are many younger and better players out there but at 42 I can still hold my own and find that they look to me for coaching et. al. and compliment the old fart for doing so well.

Bose...
F--K YOU! F--K YOU AND ANYONE WHO LOOKS LIKE YOU! Take your crybaby asses back to the lab and use what you've learned from the many professionals who have given you a chance to break into this industry (me included... very ashamed BOSE dealer)and make your product better. The worst thing is that I have a $35,000.00 Bose system all wired up because I couldn't convince the customer otherwise and needed the money... yes I sold out... please publicly flogg me here so I can wear a badge of shame. I have to go in and complete this system with an almost $20,000.00 order of this crap... thereby funding in part this ridiculous suit. I have to finish the job because I am under contract... and it absolutely has to be Bose because it is wired with their funky s--t including one two conductor speaker wire to each VC.

I don't see how I will ever lower myself to this again... AVDude... certainly you will let me have it and I'm sure you've gone to your boss and shown him this. I am going to have a really hard time holding my tongue at this upcoming training.
