I know this question does'nt really pertain to home entertainment, but I'm sure there is a few of you out there that have installed this system. I installed the Panasonic KX-TG4000B w/ 6 handsets, and was having problems with the handsets. All of the handsets make a gurgling type sound, and will sometimes show no link to base. I've replaced the base unit twice, and relocated it to 3 differ'nt locations to rule out interference. The building is a tire shop w/ brick exterior walls & metal stud interior walls. There are no other phones in the building & no other wireless devices.
Has anyone had any strange interference problems w/ these phones or any other 2.4ghz. phones.
thanks,
Scott

My experience is that 2.4 ghz phones are prone to interference from metal (studs, metal lath, ceiling tile grid), household appliances (microwave ovens), plus who knows what else. Add all the 2.4 ghz junk generated by all sorts of wireless computer stuff. 2.4 ghz might not be the best solution to offer in every situation....

Scott,

other than the giant motors in your tire balancing machines, are there any other LARGE electric motors running in your shop? Things like a welder, compressor pump (I would think so) etc...?

What kind of lights do you have, are the standard flourescent, mercury vapor, etc...?

What's NEAR your shop? TV towers, police dispatch radio tower's, Air Traffic Control towers, the local television station's new HDTV tower?

All of these things, in addition to what FastFred said, could have major impacts on your ability to have cordless phones work in a commercial structure.

I installed the baby brother to your system (the 2800 or something like that, Fred help me out here) and we had tons of problems with it...it was in a shipping office in a warehouse district...we never did figure out what it was...changed to 900 Mghtz system and all was good...

avdude or whoeverelse reading,

The front showroom the base unit is located does have your typical flouresent lighting, there is also compressors, welders in the shop. There really is no radio towers within 1/4 mile, but there is a large amount of overhead power lines surrounding the building.
I'm just trying to determine whether to scrap this phone system or if there is someway to fix the problem. The people at panasonic are no help at all.
thanks,
Scott
