I have "talked" to a Hitachi before, but the Panny TH-42pwd6 is silent so far. I am using Hyperlink and a straight cable to the plasma. Anyone else able to speak through the serial port to this hunk of glass?

didn't try.

Where did you get the info as to what to send?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I have the communication data from the owners manual. The manual isn't that bad compared to most. There is a diagram for the cable and a chart for the communication codes. They start with STX (02h),then a 3char. command, like PON = Power ON. Some paramaters are next if necessary, such as a volume level and the string ends with ETX (03h).
Any other communication programs to try instead of Hyperlink?

Gotgame..

1- Try (probaly won't make a difference) a null modem cable

2- make sure you're using the latest version of hyper terminal ESPECIALLY if your OS is XP Pro....

Make sure that your cabling is right. 2-3-5 straight through and 7&8 shorted. Baud rate is good 9600,8,n,1. If you have these correct, you should at least see a "ER401" if you sent a bad command.

Thanks for the input guys. I will try and take some time tonight and give it a try. I have a null modem cable somewhere around here for the AMX programmer. I will make a break out rs-232 cable and short the pins. Hopefully, I can get these to talk.
DO you know of a better program than Hyperlink?
