I have a friend who is interested in using this piece in his system. Anyone have any experience with it?

I'm curious how well it integrates with control systems, it's reliability, and quality.

I appreciate anyone's prior experience with this piece.

Thanks in advance,

JJP

John

I bought one for my own home use. Haven't yet set it up with a Crestron system. If you search the Crestron Yahoo group you will find a few posts.

For $250 its a great deal for my own use. As far a customers well.......... Your not really going to make much on markup and the MP3s are on hard drives else where so networking is involved. For a tech person it's OK but for 95% of my customers it't not something we will sell.

Hi,

Please tell me if I'm out of line posting here. I'm not a custom installer but know a thing or two... and know enough to know when knowing a THING OR TWO isn't enough for the job.

The audiotron is a pretty cool tech toy, and there may be a market where the custom installer can make some $$$. I think the only place you'll make a decent bit on it is through a custom, integrated installation. That would include integrating a specially designed (ok, customized) web interface into some WiFI touch pad type device.

I think the only place you could afford to sell this would be to people with more money than they know what to do with. Some folks have made custom interfaces (web based) for the 'tron. If you poke around the audiotron forums you'll find them.

I will say that the audiotron does allow me to really find and enjoy the music I want to listen to. The key is to remember that it's really high end and not something for that hacks who steal all their music in the form of badly ripped, low bit-rate MP3's. Attach the audiotron to a real system through the optical out, feed it great quality files, and it will just about blow the socks off any music fan.

Last note, the audiotron isn't a music server. It is a client that gets its data from a shared hard drive on a home network.

Well, that's my simple opinion. Again, my appologies if I posted out of turn.

Your not out of line. Ask most people who see the books with a CI company and they will tell you making money on labor is not the way to stay in business. Many times CI companies take a hit on labor for various reason I don't care to type out.

The AudioTron is a great product just not highend IMO and I've been around the CI business for sometime and have seen other products that are better but not in that price range.
