Am I reading their manual correctly that the new Sony satellite receivers do indeed include two separate infrared code sets as well responding to the sixteen options for RF codes at the same time?

Right. And both IR and RF work at the same time, so if you have two together, and they're not behind closed cabinet doors, or similar, even if you set two different RF codes, they will both see the IR, so they will both respond! Another SONY feature, arrrgh! I got fooled, not reading the manual, and figured they were like the older Sony's, you had one or the other. The RF sensitivity is much better than the older ones, too. They now have mini pre-amps in the rf antenna.

Dan, Thanks for the info. I see how to change the RF codes, but how do you change the IR codes?. I did not get to spend a lot of time with it but the manual's "Jinglish" was rather vague.

After some tinkering, I found the answer to my question: even though they will respond to IR commands with the RF antenna connected, you can only change the IR code with the RF antenna removed.
