I agree with you Larry. I also agree with all of the critics of Bose. Retail "clerks" at the chain stores always sell them that crap (along with a bunch of Monster Cables), then they want us to install it for them.

I flat-out tell them no-way. If you want to buy crap with a big name, go to a crappy installer like the ones that work for the big chains, and let those guys explain why it doesn't sound as good as the advertising. How can salespeople look at themselves in the mirror after selling some poor sap crap like that?

As bad as Radio Shack speakers are, at least they don't charge Bose prices for them.

I don't know about most sales people but I suspect Amar Bose has NO problem looking at himself in the mirror - in his multi-million dollar home :-).

And I'll bet he's listening to Triad in-walls when he does it!

No, I didn't think they would be, but, what the hell, it was worth asking, wasn't it? I'm open to suggestions as to a decent sounding pair of in-ceilings (I've experience with the Niles HD and PR range).

Also, I Think I'm gonna have to spend the cash on a pair of Triads just so everbody doesn't remember me as Radio Shack Johnny!

PS No offence taken. Ever.

We use Parasound and NHT for 80% of our multiroom speakers and they seem to work great for the price

Being a triad dealer I would prefer every one use triad for everything, but that of course is a pipe dream. I have installed a lot of parasound in walls, but to tell you the truth I have had better luck with MTX and Sonance inwalls. The Jamos are a pretty decent line. I just installed my first set of the new Earthquake Image 6 inwalls, I have not had the chance to try them out yet, but they have great specs and they are even lower in price than the MTX brand. Earthquakes might be the way to go for quality sound at a less than Radio Shack price!

John, talk to Paul Whyte at Cybernetics Systems in the Toronto area (Markham I think)

Tel: (416) 704-0000

He's a Sonance dealer and should be able to provide you with some decent speakers and anthing else that you may need.

Cheers

has anyone heard the Boston Acoustics VRi595? They're brand-spanking new this year. They're primarily home theater LCR speakers that specialize in performance, imaging, and versatility. I haven't had a chance to try them out, but only heard them at the factory tour as well as at CEDIA. Any experience with them?

EDIT: Here's where you can find info:
