Some questions to help our company recruit employees:
1. Where do you look when you are seeking new employment (local papers, Monster.com, trade magazines, etc.)?
2. What is the most common source of disatisfaction (in this industry) with your employer/job for the job you hold or jobs you have held? I'm referring to things that are within your employers control, such as making sure sales and install work together, not things like "customers that are unreasonable".
3. What catches your eye when you see an ad for employment (examples - benefits listed, etc.)?
4. How did you find your current job (ad, referral etc.)
Any and all additional thoughts appreciated.

1) I ask friends if they know of anyone hiring
2) the most common drawback to working for someone else is their lack of organization and their incompetence. Fortunately, when I do subcontract work for another installer now, he is very competent and organized. Unreasonable customers aren't a problem- I can persuade them to see things my way, or I can walk away. (it's good to be your own boss sometimes... heh)
3) Job title and brief description of duties... Benefits don't matter to me, since i'm uninsurable due to old injuries

We can do it my way, or we can do it my way while I yell. The choice is yours. |

A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything. "The biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place." -- G. “Bernie” Shaw |
