I have installed two sucessive Gran View stand-alone tv tuners to work with a client's cable box and his Sony plasma monitor. The second one has just failed and I'm looking for alternatives. All I need is something that can take a Ch 3 or 4 in and produce composite video and analog stereo outputs. What does the rest of the world do other than use a vcr; no space on this project?

If you can't fit a vcr, you're not likely to fit a decent tuner either. Personally, I like the tuner in the stand alone Tivo boxes. Viewsonic has an award winning outboard tuner with some advanced capability called the N6 that might do the trick.

MCM electronics... www.mcmelectronics.com ... a distributor has some great little 125 channel 2x8x6 boxes with digital display and remote for about $70.00 plus shipping. Ive used them in bar situations and they work very well

Many thanks. I've used MCM for years, but never noticed that one in their catalog.

The Viewsonic VB50 unit is about $70.00 and works good. It would go in on the PC input on the plasma. The menu is easy to add, delete and name channels. my.02
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

Aurora Multimedia VTune might the answer. It has an extremely compact if space is an issue and is controllable by RS-232, Contact Closure, and IR.
