Anybody have a discrete code to select 16:9 on a DTC-100 in HD Mode? Yeah, I know I can do menu, 6, 4, up, select, but that's really a toggle. It's not in the files section (discrete's or ccf's). Thanks. HNick

There is a 4:3/16:9 toggle code in the discretes.

Hi,
Thanks for the response. I'm trying to make it part of a shut-down/start-up sequence, so I really need a discrete for it to work independent of current setting. HNick

Why do you want to change the monitor size?

If you have a 16:9 monitor, it should stay on 16:9

If you have a 4:3 monitor, it should stay on 4:3

Maybe you could enlighten me with what you are trying to do.

Hi John,

I have an LT-150z. It's really a 4:3 pj, but does the "squeeze" for 16:9 material. So, when we watch SD source, I put the DTC-100 in HD on, 4:3, and set the pj for "Normal" (no vertical squeeze). For Hi Def (either DirecTV or OTA), I put the DTC-100 in HD on, 16:9, and set the pj for "Cinema" (vertical squeeze). Yes, making the picture smaller might be frowned on except, with an 84 in screen, the 16:9 image is still 6 1/2 ft by 3 ft - pretty big for us. This looks great, BTW.
So, when the system is turned off and on the next time, it could be either aspect ratio. In order to make the system more SO friendly, a default set-up would be useful. Thanks. HNick

Why not use the toggle I mentioned, and put that button in a convenient place on the device panel.

This way, if the picture isn't correct, all you need to do is press that button.

Just a thought

JJP,

Discretes are always better!!! In the perfect world every A/V product would have every feature with a discrete code and toggles would only exist for some small button count, non macro, come with the unit in the box, remotes. Even the seasoned A/V button pushin' people should not have to second guess that their unit in the cabinet is on or off, in the right audio or video input, in the right surround mode, in the right aspect ratio, in HD or SD (I could go on and on).

We need to somehow get through to these manufacturers that hidden discrete commands for all function are needed.

Discrete commands and macros.... rah rah rah!!!

Unfortunately, we don't live in a perfect world. So sometimes we need to fake it.

Just a thought.

Man, what's with all the attitude? If you're a pro installer don't expect to be in business long.

That works only if the output is set for 16:9 in the menu of the DTC-100. He's actually looking for codes that will change the video output of the dtc-100 between 16:9 and 4:3.

Thanks everybody,
Apparently, a disrete does not exist for this function. I've set-up the toggle. As long as the pj stays in synch, everything looks good (but funky when they don't!!). HNick
