Can anyone suggest a source for an equipment rack? I'm setting up equipment in a closet and plan to cut out the sheetrock so that the equipment can be accessed from outside of the closet wall. I need to make it look good from the outside and provide shelving inside the closet for the equipment. Also, does the equipment inside the closet require ventilation (exhaust fan)?

Rohit, consider home-made. I spent well under $100 for materials. Click on the pic links at the bottom of my system info page.

Larry,

The shelving looks good. Do you have any ventilation inside the closet? Are you using wood molding on the outside of the wall, around the smoked glass?

I'd like to use the same shelving inside the closet but instead of the glass door and moulding on the outside, I would like to use a face plate of some sort and custom fit each piece of equipment into the face plate without any space being seen between the equipment and the face plate. Do you know where I can get this and how each piece is custom fitted?

Thanks...Rohit

MiddleAtlantic & Raxess both offer custom faces for any equipment. My experience has been that MidAtl. has a larger'library' of equipment dimensions than does Raxess but, either company will create a custom plate if you can provide the measurements.

http://www.avrak.com/

they make a rack that spins inside a cabinet for easy access to the wiring/back panels...

they also make a rack that pulls out of the cabinet, TEN spins around for easy acess...

they also have the cabinets avaliable
We can do it my way, or we can do it my way while I yell. The choice is yours.

Rohit, no, I installed no ventilation. There's enough volume within the closet, enough space around the equipment, and my amps (Sunfire) don't get warm.

I used the same 'clamshell' molding around the opening that my doors and windows use, mainly because the stack is adjacent to a door.

I opted to forego the fitted faceplates because I don't have rack rails, the cost, and because who knows how often I'll upgrade equipment.
