Hi,

I would like to use the Xantech 794-50 interface module to control some NAD equipment via the NAD Link ports on the back.

I emailed NAD to get their thoughts on this, and was told that the "NAD Link just won't serve for this function".

Now, Xantech's literature indicates that it WILL work (that is the entire purpose of this product). So, does anybody have any input?

Thanks,
Dave

I would contact Xantech and give them the exact model number of the device(s) that you want to interface. They will be able to tell you whether or not it will work. They have specific model info for their interface devices.

I contacted Xantech and they said it should work. NAD said it wouldn't.

I would have to mail order the Xantech part(s) and it would be nice if everybody agreed that it would work.

What to do... what to do...

If it's any comfort, I'd believe Xantech before I'd believe NAD on this one. After all, it's their purpose in life to make these interfaces. Whoever you're ordering the parts from should take them back if it's a no-go anyway. Good luck and let us know how it turns out!

Xantech interface module model #794-50 is made specifically for NAD.

I would also believe the guys at Xantech. I live close enough to them to drive ove for a will-call, so I have met (and worked with at previous jobs) several of them. They will tell you when they know, and they will tell you when they don't know.
Remember, for instance, that the manufacturers don't know, and we do, that we need IR commands that are not toggles. Sorry, NAD, but Xantech makes a living, like we do, out of making your sorry undocumented toggling crap work, so when they say it will work, I'll trust what they say.
Here's another one --can anybody tell me what frequency the Sony DSS RF remote uses? My frequency counter was stolen, and Sony DOESN'T KNOW OR WON'T TELL...
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

If you still have doubts, call Xantech tech support at 818-362-0353 ext.812.They are allways very helpful.
