I think I have read about being able to combine an MX-700 to trigger a Niles Intellicontrol, so you can use features such as vid sync for power confirmation. How would you accomplish this? I prefer the customer interface of the MX-700 to the intellicontrol, but sometimes need the control capabilities it has.

Greg,

I don't think an MX-700 file exists yet with the codes.

You can download a Pronto Intellicontrol CCF File from the files area here and use the CCF with the new MX-Editor to copy the commands over. Have not done it but I know the CCF Copy feature was added recently.

Make sure you copy each transport button(play, stop,pause,1,2,3 etc) for each Intellicontrol Master Key. You cannot learn the 10 Master Keys and then one set of transport buttons. There are specific IR codes for EACH transport button for EACH master key. (ie: you will have to learn/copy the "play" button 10 times)

Having done that, and hooking up an IR Receiver to the Intellicontrol MSU, you will be good to go.

We did something similar with an Elan Via! Touch Panel as the front end to an Intellicontrol MSU.

Hope that helps,

George P.

Better to use an MX-800, which has far better RF than the Intellicontrol.

I suggest you program a little differently than what George has suggested. I would only transfer (or learn) the ten master key commands and the System Off command. All other commands could be programmed directly to the MX800 (which sends RF to the MRF-200 RF base station and then IR to the IntelliControl's home theater IR port via a 2 conductor wire- the home theater IR port is a pass through to the flashers plus the Intellicontrol monitors for Niles Master Key and system off commands). The IntelliControl in turn, would only be programmed for Master Keys and System Off. That's the Intellicontrol's advantage, power synced macros.

If you have questions, you are welcome to call me anytime.

Eric,
Do you mean that the MX-800 RF frequencies are the same as the Intellicontrol, so I only need to teach it the Intelicontrols codes to run it?

Greg,

The frequency is the same, but you will only get the increase in RF performance if you use the MX-800's RF base station (the MRF-200) connected to the IntelliControl's Home Theater IR port via a two conductor wire.

The Intellicontrol doesn't care whether it is actuated by RF or IR. The Niles Code pattern triggers it either way. You can learn the code patterns by hooking an emitter to an IntelliControl MSU, then setting the learning remote in front of the emitter. Every time you press a button on the original Niles RF remote, the MSU will spit out an IR version of it via the emitter. Any good learning remote can learn the codes. When the MSU is in operation it responds to a code sent via the Home Theater IR port or an RF version picked up by the antenna. The MSU doesn't care.

Call me if you have further questions.
