I'm looking for a bracket, or preferably, a pair of brackets, to hang my Def Tech CLR-2000 center over my screen. The dimensions of it are: 21.5"W x 8 5/16"H x 15"D. It's heavy, especially if supported by the back edge only, since it's deeper than tall.

I've considered using a wall-mount TV bracket, but the mounting arm would show and take up space above and/or below the speaker. I has once seen a pair of brackets on eBay that looked something like this crude drawing I made:

The actual brackets had shorter arms, I believe, which would be preferred. These could be screwed directly to the back panel, or I could even use brackets that I can screw to the sides behind the end caps.

Either of these methods would give a hidden-means-of-support look to the installation, which is what I'm looking for; kind of a floating-in-space effect.

Thanx for your help,
Larry

Larry,

Look at omni mounts. It's been awhile since I have used them, but they did make some heavy duty metal eyeball socket mounts that would work perfect for your application.

Hope this helps..

Thanx, JG, but neither had anything. The TV mounts come close, the single-arms with platform. Anyone else?

Larry,

An associate of mine mounted that same Def tech center channel to a wall mounted TV bracket made by pivotelli. It is mounted above the screen, and fires down at the seating area. It works great, and looks cool.

I don't know which he used, but the two I saw are limited to 10", one front-to-back, and one side-to-side.

Still looking...

If you have no problem screwing into the speaker, you could remove the drivers and screw through the back of the speaker directly into the studs.

I'm a fan of brackets from a European company. Vogels.
Their model VLB 100 has a 55 lb rating, swivels left to right and has a thumbwheel adjustment for up and down. They stick out from the wall perhaps four inches, and are very competitively priced. They don't suffer from brewers droop, if you catch my drift.

I really appreciate the help, guys. The Vogel brackets are just too small, and I only need vertical adjustment. I'd have no problem with a greater projection, since my mains are floor towers, away from the wall.

So far, this looks like my best choice:

It allows for almost unlimited vertical pivoting, has a large mounting surface for both wall and speaker surfaces, has a white half (wall) and a black half (speaker).

I also like the 4"sq. hole on the plate for the terminal access. Plus, it seems the heavier the load, the greater the 'bite' the moving section has on the rods, so there should be no "brewers droop".

Thanx again. Anyone else? Going, going...

Larry

It's a Peerless bracket. I holds up to 75 lbs. Model number is spk815. They are sold individually.

Larry,

I checked Ominimounts website for you. They actually reference the Def Tech CLR2000.

Haven't tried the Peerless SPK815 that you're considering, but it may be your best bet. I don't have any faith in the Omnimounts except for use with the lightest of bookshelf speakers; they tend to slip unless tightened to the point of breaking! (I've broken one myself.)

Here's something I found in the Markertek catalog:

It's not intended for speakers, or even for wall mounting, but appears as though it may suit your application.

Good luck.

AVX, the Omni is just too flimsy(looking) and not quite what I'm looking for, but thanx. A single-pivot-arm TV mount would be better, but still...

M_B, that ceiling mount, along with the matching seiling plate and a 1.5" nipple would work, but I don't know if it could be tightened enough to support that much weight sideways.

You guys are really doing more than your share of helping. Thanx again, all! So far, the Peerless seems to be the #1 choice.
