What is the best way to get the compnoent signals from a DVD player to a TV that is located quite a distance away (30 - 40 feet)? Can I run extra RG6 Quad shield for each cable or would I be missing something?

Trying to get the best signal from the DVD player into a Samsung DLP TV. Friend wants to locate gear in one room that is the distance mentioned above away.

Thanks -

Mark

Make sure that you use solid copper RG-6, not copper coated steel. I have run component over 120 ft using RG-6 and Liberty RCA compression fittings.

We use a video grade RG59 for long video runs. RG6 is great for RF, but we've found 59 does a nicer job for video.

I concur with using RG-59; thinner and more flexible, and easier to find and install RCA plugs w/out needing F-to-RCA adapters.

What do you think about using RG59?

Thomas & Betts makes some nice RCA compression fittings for quad shielded RG6.

Liberty also has a very nice High-Res RGB cable. 5 or 6 conductors in one jacket is much easier to handle than 3 separate cables. It also allows for S-video with the 5 conductor or Svideo and Composite with the 6 conductor. Give it a try.
