I'm looking for in-walls for my family room.

The room is pre-wired for 7.1 but right now I'm just using NHT 1.2 mains and center. The plan is to go all in-walls and move the NHTs and the current A/V receiver to the master bedroom, for a 5.1 system.

The surrounds in the family room need to be about 10' high because of the room configuration
I'm looking at the Niles in-walls, and their web site is not clear about speaker adjustments.

The AT series clearly have tiltable tweeters, but the AT series doesn't have a center speaker.

The HD series has center speakers, but it's not at all clear that the tweeters can be tilted. The description just says that they have a Low-diffraction tweeter-adjustment mechanism. Is this tilt or something else?

All of the Niles in-walls have pivoting tweeters.
If you are going inwalls all around then stay with a inwall center if it is possible.
Any particular reason you are doing all in-walls??

Thanks.

There are two reasons for going all in-wall.

1) My wife wants the floor space that the towers take up now.

2) I can move the current mains and center to the master bedroom for a second surround system.

For the center, I can either go with a boxed speaker, or do a little reframing and do an inwall. The TV is in a niche over the fireplace, and the niche was made several feet too tall.

Why do you recommend the in-wall center vs. the boxed version of the same speaker?

Take a look at SpeakerCraft as well. Their 8" speakers allow pivoting of both the midrange and tweeters.

Take a look at the Mirage HDT and the Incognita series. Both line ups combine to blend box, in-walls or in-ceilings.

The mounting system is considerably more advanced than most in-walls, incorporating sophisticated and patented damping systems that enable the system to match box speaker performance.

You can see it here:

Click on Incognita and check out the HDT box speakers as well.
Best Regards,
Eric
