What's the relationship between hitachi and pioneer?

I just installed an Hitachi 42. I was told by the distributor it was a rebadged pioneer and it used pioneer discrete codes.

However, avdude suggested it was a rebadged Fujitsu.

I'm a little confused. Does anyone have any ideas?

ps. I'd go for the Fujitsu

Mickdawg...you need to read my post again...I suggest NOTHING in it....it's a direct quote from another industry side.

I can tell you this, I have used several pioneer, and NUMEROUS hitachis. They are, never have been, and never will be even remotely related. Try controlling that hitachi with the pioneer clicker. won't work. They are both their OWN OEM...also, Hitachi is the OEM for Fujitsu, and as the website and QQQ suggest, they are far cheaper the Fujitsu's screens. They are the same product though. Fujitsu is OWNED by Hitachi-Fujitsu in a 51/49 relationship...

Thanks for all the great replies. It seems to me all things not equal that the average installer, with cost nor profit being a concern, would chose the Fujitsu. Still interested in hearing more testimonials.

Wow, AVDude, don't be getting all UPPER CASE on me.

I just spoke to my plasma distributor from where the info came. It seems I stumbled upon a trade secret. woo ooo ooh.

The rep wouldn't go on record, but he did say that the pdf's for the plasma manuals are very, very similar.

For the record, I am using the Hitachi cmp5000wxu. The pioneer plasma discretes i downloaded from this site operate this Hitachi.

But don't take my word for it. Call your distributor, do your own research.

And, finally, to quote a rather subpar Sean Connery movie, "Never say never again."

avdude, lighten up. the bat joke was tailored to QQQ's offbeat mentality. By the way you integrationpros link is as dead as your sense of humor.

oh...sorry

very bad week....

I know IP is down, and will be until the 30th. We are upgrading (replacing) servers, upgrading bandwidth and one of the servers (Jaws) is being moved to a new office....that and they screwed up the DSL order....

Only reasons to chose the 50" sony G.W. over the plasma is that
A) it should last longer
B) no burn in
C) saves some money
D) better cable tuner - the "sony wega" features ( the PIP, index mode etc. and the memory stik port)( nice stock remote control also)
if none of those are too imoprtant go plasma!

The 50" sony GW does look pretty impressive when showing High def. and they are releasing a 42 soon ... should look even better. .. I dunno if they are gonna improve the 60 though.
