I'm getting ready for a prewire job. Alarm, intercom, Home Audio Speakers, etc.
During the prewire for the intercom system. I would like for the Home Audio speakers throughout the house be muted when a intercom transaction is taking place. How is this task accomplished?? Thanks for your help.

As was stated in other posts, DETAILS! What type of equipment are you using for the intercom, what type of equipment are you using for the whole-house audio? There are as many answers to your question as there are choices of equipment.

Greg is correct. More info would def. be helpful. In my eyes the ideal situation would to use one product. Example would to use a Elan based system. Use their pre-amps, amps, keypads/touch screens for the audio side and a communication(Z600 by Elan) piece for your communication end(intercom, page, mute, and more). You deal with only one manufacturer. It sounds like you haven't run into this type of job often and it would be better for you on the tech support end. Only problem that lies do you have to resources to get the product. My 2 cents.

For this group (myself included) to answer your question you need to provide more details .

I'd be willing to bet that you can't get access to a product such as Elan. However, Russound will do what you're looking to do. A good mid-range product with decent support.

Logic is a systematic method of coming to the wrong conclusion with confidence.
