My Lutron RadioRA system is in place (28 dimmers, 4 switches), and working fine with the Lutron master remotes (6), However, I could not use the "fade" feature with the remotes, but was informed by Lutron that if I purchased an RS 232 interface, I could program the "fade" feature. Is this the only/best way to access the fade feature? Also, what else besides the RS 232 interface (computer and program) will I need to access the interface? I have a Dell Laptop, and a Mac Powerbook, neither have a serial port, rather USB ports. Thanks. George Shutrump [email protected]

What remote control are you using?
You should be able to set up the dimming with an IR interface as well.

The RadioRa system has different interfaces available. You can activate it by IR as well as RS232 depending on which interface is used. Contact closure and telephone interfaces are also available but I havn't used them.

Please elaborate on the IR set up. To wit: I buy the Infrared Interface (Model # RA-IR), plug it in, confirm that the 'repeater' recognizes it, and............. Thank you for your time. George, I wish I could help you with this problem, but I don't know a thing about it.
I do, though, want to applaud your choice of name! So few are willing to ever say they are neophytes. Hope you feel qualified to change your name soon.
Me, I am suddenly inspired to change mine to paleophyte, or maybe that should be paleopharte...I have such name recognition here that I probably won't, though.
I expect an irritated response from someone with no sense of humor.

The RA-IR acts, and is programmed, just like any other RA Master Control (well the procedure is a little different, but the functional steps are the same). Instead of responding to button presses, the RA-IR responds to IR commands, which can be sent from a Lutron remote or any remote capable of learning Lutron commands. I have attached the url for the application guide to your other thread.
