Ok.. Call me crazy, but this Form is looking an awful lot like a Pronto Pro Q&A forum lately?? What is that all about? This Forum is for professional installers with SERIOUS questions and there is already an excellent Pronto forum just a click away.

With that in mind, lets talk shop. In an effort to maintain the highest levels of professionalism, I am trying to compile a list of professional installers terms and phrases. This way we can impress all of those who have the honor of watching and listening to us do our job/s.

Below is a short list of some of the many many many. Terms in use out there in the field, but I'm sure there a quite a few that many of us never get the pleasure of hearing or more importantly using because there has been far too little research into this area in the installers language. A language all his own.

Fish Sticks: AKA- golden rods, creep-zit, etc.

China Men in the wire - Refers to a "chink" or "kink" in the wire. (please, hold back on the mail saying that we are offending any particular groups, this is not a demeaning term, just funny).... I won't say it twice...

Widow Maker - Refers to a powerful right angle drill or any other powerful tool that could have you cashing in your chips with one bad move.

Monkey Cum, or Snot: Refers to pulling lube for wire in pipe. (No were not trying to offend monkeys!)

Mouse Farts - Refers to the little pull strings that are sucked or blown through conduit. (looks like mouse with 200' tail)

Five Gallon Get Tall - "Pass me that five gallon get tall" This was actually said to me by a plumber with a southern drawl. I haven't forgot it, and neither has OSHA. Fro the of you still scratching your head... He wanted me to give him a bucket to stand on thus making himself taller.

Wire Balls - An electrician term referring to his nuts.... "wire nuts"

Slinky - Coiled Fish tape

Persuader - Hammer

Twist Stick - Screw Driver

Confuser - Computer

Banana - Tone/Probe "the old ones were yellow.

Ass - Butt set

Well, the list goes on, and we need to know more. If you only have one offbeat term or way of saying something. You will have made us all that much more knowledgeable and {cough} professional.

Take just a moment of your time. It's for a good cause. At leas let us know if you learned anything.

Hey... It's Sunday, time to work on those back burner projects... OK?
