Does anyone know when Pronto Edit for XP will be released ? I'm sick of Pronto Edit crashing when learning IR codes...

Yours is a common mistake. You cannot learn IR commands through pronto edit. Not with XP or with 98. You may get a few to take, but chances are they will be dirty codes. Always learn directly to the Pronto.
It's such a fine line between stupid, and clever.

Pronto Edit is designed to learn codes via the Pronto. Connect pronto to the serial cable, and with pronto edit, you are supposed to be able to learn IR codes. WIth older OS's, I was able to do this without a single problem.

With XP, it crashes every third time etc. With enough patience, I can get my codes in.

Doing it directly to the pronto without it connected to the PC can be done (as you say), but it decreases the value of being able to do it via Pronto edit.

Is there a fix so that we can run XP with Pronto edit?

It worked so well with 98 before I upgraded to XP

I doubt there will be a fix. It has never worked properly with windows 2000 (ie learning IR codes), and because XP is based on windows 2k, I would imagine that the same problems will exist, if not more. Since Phillips no longer makes the TSU-1000 remote, chances of them writing new software for it are pretty nonexistant.

Do other version of Pronto Edit made for later versions of the Pronto cope with XP and the learning of IR codes ?

If you do a search in the proper forum (Pronto & Marantz5000) for windows XP & Pronto edit, its all right there.
