My favorite dream is still the old Cello stuff with an Audio Pallete. I imagine a perfect listening room, with an Oracle turntable, Martin Logan Monoliths powered by giant tube amps glowing beside them and a recliner with the Cello stuff mounted in each arm of the chair.

Am I dating myself?

No, Eric, I am. This was my first 'real' audio system:

Dual 1229 w/fold-down front-panel storage in base and hinged dust cover
Shure V-15 Type III cartridge (after I wore out an M91ED)
DiscWasher wet record-cleaning brush
Advent Cassette Deck (w/external Dolby n.r. unit)
Dynaco PAT-5 preamp kit
Dynaco AF-6 am/fm tuner kit
Southwest Technical Products (Popular Electronics feature-article kit maker) Universal Tiger amps
Southwest Technical Products headphone amp (2 w/ch. pure Class-A amps - hot!)
Rectilinear III speakers (later called High-boys when Low-boys came out)
Koss Pro-4 AAA headphones
25' headphone extension cable

How's that? Old enuff?

Larry

Yep, you must be as old as me. I grew up with AR3A's, the Dynaco Pat 4 and an AR turntable. In high school, I had my dad's old hifi, a Fisher mono reciever with a home made speaker (15" woofer in an open backed cabinet with a tweeter in a separate enclosure that sat on top). My first real system had a NAD integrated amp, a pair of Kef's with the oval woofer and a Dual turntable with an Ortofon cartridge.

So what's your dream system now, Larry?

I'm happy to say that I am currently surrounded (pun intended) by it, with the possible exception of my pre/pro (I'd love to have a Sunfire Theater Grand III). Of course, I'm not that concerned with a dedicated 2-channel system any more.
