This is what I'm trying to do:

I want to have some sort of remote control that sends commands via RF and then those commands are interpreted into IR sent to the system. I already have IR emitters set up, I just need a way of doing touch panel -> RF - > IR emitters

is there a way to do this cheaply? thanks guys

Pronto TSU-3000, Marantz RC-5200.

Both have an optional RF to IR extender and do exactly what you describe

I use the Pronto Pro TSU6000 and the RF extender. Works great. Might be too pricy for you though.

The TSU6000 (ProntoPro) with the RF extender is probably the cheapest option. I have had mixed results with the RF extender, however, and have found that the Niles Intellicontrol and Crestron's touchpanels to be far more reliable. Pronto's RF extender operates on a crowded frequency range, and is more vulnerable to interference. House constuction (walls, concrete, rebar) also plays a role in determining the range of any RF system.

Actually the TSU-3000 with RF Extender would be a cheaper option as Impaqt said.

Ya know, sometimes, you just gotta look at a post, tilt your head sideways and say huh??????????

First, Yes, the TSU3000 an Marantz 5200 are certainly ceaper than the 6000....

Second, Crestron uses the same frequency as Prontos.... The range has absoultly nothing to do with the Freequency.... it has to do with the Extra $$$$ Spent by Crestron to make sure the Amplifitude and recpetion is top notch. Something the did not do with the MT5000, but did impliment in the ST series one-way panels..........

Crestrons 2-way (As well as AMX) use 2.4Ghz... Also a very crowded frequency....
