I have a Xantech repeating system partially working. The repeating system consists of the following equipment(791-44 amplified connecting block, 781rg power supply, 780-10 receiver). If I'm within 5 feet of the receiver the system works. If I'm further away then 5 feet it doesn't. The status light flashes on the receiver. Which lets me know that it received the signal. Tonight, I will add a jumper to the connecting block. Is there anything thing else I should try? The repeater system is hooked up to Rotel gear. There are no lights of plasma displays in this room.

TIA,

Anthony

No sunlight tried it from my bed last night. I tried the factory Rotel remote as well as my Marantz 5200. They both only work up close.

Xantech trouble shooting. Break the system down to its simplest form, shelftop ir (non-CFL)+ CB12+ power supply+ non blink emmitter, and set it all up right next to the gear (don't use the wiring in the wall yet). This little system should work 100%, if not, the problems not the Xantech system. Now, add the actual components of the install one at a time, including the wiring, unitl you run into trouble. You should be able to narrow the problem down rather quickly using this method. My guess, amplified connecting blocks often amplify any noise along with the signal. The closer you get to the target, the more signal in the system path, the greater the signal to noise ratio. The range necessary right now to overcome the signal to noise is 5 feet. I would pull the amplified block in favor of a passive one, like a 789-44. If you ran shielded control cable you could also try bonding one end of the shield to ground.

Problem solved! The solution was 1) To use a stereo mini cable between the connecting block and the processor (it plugs into the back of the processor). Which is what the instructions said. 2) Use the jumpers to boost the signal. I had to find some jumpers, none where included with the connecting block.
Thanks to all those that replied.
