I'm trying to estimate the installed base of the Pronto and its OEMs, all brands and models. I need this information for a business plan I'm preparing for a Pronto accessory. I don't want to divulge the idea here, but I will say the product could be used to generate service revenue for custom installers.
I haven't been able to find unit shipment numbers for any of the brands. A dealer suggested that serial number changes might be able to give me an estimate. Since some installers track this information on their customers, I'm posting a message here. I have the following questions:
1) What is the lowest and highest serial numbers you've seen ?
2) Which brand do you sell ? (Philips, Marantz, Onkyo, or Yamaha)
3) Do serial numbers increment by one ?
4) Are any of the leading digits in the serial number reserved ? (like to encode manufacturing location or year built)
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Roy
