I have no clue why you have placed this in this thread
however if something ever happened to you or someone in
your family I would be wiling to bet the guys here praying
for Levi, and his dad would be the first to say a prayer
for you my friend.

Dharmony... I'm not a religious guy, but am spiritual... So while I may not "pray" like some guys... I try to send out positive energy / thoughts / hope, which is pretty similar when it all gets boiled down... I think there is something to it all.

I think your link was a little bit of a buzz killer. I know you might have mean well, right?

A friend of mine , says that while Kawasaki disease is no walk in the park, it is totally treatable, and RR's son should continue to improve, and that it is good that it was caught early- and he will back on track soon. It IS a pretty tough deal to go through though.

All of you are making the assumptions, I didn't do the study, merely pointing it out. You can believe what you want, but it doesn't hurt to hear a different viewpoint does it?

Yes you are obviously allowed to have your opinion, or stance. I only question the reason for input at this time. The guy’s kid is sick, and he asked us to pray for his childs safe recovery. We all wished him well, and you stand up in the back...clear your throat...and say..." by the way..prayer doesn't work". Come on man. Since opinions are OK to have my opinion is that what you did was rude, and insensitive. Even if you don't believe in prayer, or religion, or for that matter, if you don't believe the sky is blue, send best wishes, but for heavens sake bro., don't come in with negative rhetoric. When it's your child. Your family. When it doesn't make since. We all need something. Who knows why God allows kids to get sick, or even die. One day I hope to ask him that, and I bet there will be a few of these guys standing there with me wondering the same thing, but until then I'll continue to believe that he knows what he is doing. If any of my three kids gets sick you can bet I'll be in prayer.
I long for a better world. One in which a chickens motives will not be questioned when mearly crossing the road.

I'm so glad there's been an improvement. A diagnosis helps because we like something to shoot at, but I too am in tears just that he sat up and asked for a bath.

Looking at info on Kawasaki disease, it's said that if the symptoms appear a doctor should be seen. I couldn't read the list without imagining that a doctor would be seen for most of those symptoms, so it's up to the doc to recognize the constellation. radiorhea, you did good and you did well.

As for the discussions of faith and effectiveness of prayer, this was not the proper place to offer anything other than support. And such was a negative influence. When I asked for prayer over a year ago re my colon cancer and chemo, nobody said anything negative about prayer. Guys, have a heart (and you do, I know it), and offer your heart. Or shut up.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Hey DH, I DO respect your right to your opinion. I don't want to cram my relationship with Christ down anyone's throat. I don't believe God wants to, either. It's a choice. He loved us enough to allow us to choose. I am also not "religious". I think Christ came and made a mockery of those who were religious. Man, the guy was FIERCE. The original punk rocker. What he said he wanted was a relationship, not religion. I understand where you're coming from and I am open to a seperate thread for believers, unbelievers and other viewpoints to discuss the issue of faith (hell, this isn't the first time faith has come up here since I joined) but I agree with those who think you shouldn't have chimed in at this time. Whether it was offered benignly or maliciously, I can't say but c'mon, man, show some support.

I actually thought Patrick was a religious man, which is why it caught me off guard. Maybe I was mistaken?

Just for the record............I too, deemed it inappropriate timing. And timing only.......everyone has the right to believe or not.
I too, do not shove my beliefs down others throats. I would however speculate that if your child was as sick as mine, you would be praying to God for him to give you the sickness and take it away from your child, just as I have for the last week.

Levi was spared for whatever reason.........but to see as many people put aside there differences and offer support, prayer, and positive thoughts.....that one comment didn't even phase me.

He is sitting here still with pnumonia and several other issues that will not allow us to leave the hospital, but he is smiling eating more ice cream and back to his old self.

Here is a sample of his humor......we got back from a x-ray and the nurse asked him if he felt OK, he replied that everything was great, but that he had gas........the nurse asked him if he would like to walk around to see if it would help........his reply......

No maam, I'll just lay here and toot it out.............I was almost on the floor.

We are not out of the woods yet, but my friends, I owe all of you a huge thanks.

Again it is a huge comfort to know what kind of group I associate myself with.

If there is anything that I can ever do for any of you, please do not hesitate to ask.

Humbled and walking in God's grace, RadioRhea
