Can any one 'splain the difference between the CMP4121HDU and the 42HDT20. I mean aside from the obvious 42hdt has tuner, pip, speakers and price dif. the specs seem the same. I assume the 4121 is the "industrial" unit and suuferes from I.R. problems.
Is the 42HDT newer techology? The Dist. says the halflife on the 42HDT is 10 years(ya it was a salesman that said it!). For 2k my cust doesn't need the tuner-has directv and speakers are theater sys.

One point of difference is that the CMP4121HDU has cooling fans, the 42HDT20 Media box gets a lot of the heat away from the panel. Also there is a notable difference in picture quality(contrary to what Hitachi will try to tell you).The menu system of the CMP4121HDU does let you make as many adjustments to colour etc,as the 42HDT. The colours look artificial on industrial model,and the domestic model gives a more refined image.

Hitachi is one of my preferred brands to install.... I'm looking at one right now- i installed it last year, then the customer decided to put it in his vacation home, and got another Hitachi for his main home.

THe differences are, the 42HDT has the tv tuner, speakers, etc, where the 4121 doesn't... The 4121 has a BEAUTIFUL picture, and costs less, so you can't go wrong with it (not only that, but my supplier, WAve Audio in Houston, can't get the 42HDT, but they can get plenty of 4121's...)
