I can't understand it. What do the people at Elan
think. People keep this equipment forever then
throw it in the dumpster. Their is a ton of Elan
gear out their. I have a 9 Zone Z system. Thats
3 Z-630's all series 2, 1 Z-fan, 1 Z-660, (Also
2 Speakercraft BB-835's) 1 Z-Power and 9 zones
of Z-100 and Z-150. Now I am adding a VIA!
Manufacturers try to keep their costs down any way they can. This includes limiting tech support, a very costly expense for them, to the market that acutally sells their stuff and pays their bills for them, the dealers.
To the guys who have helped me out thanks very
much. I wish I had something to offer back.
You sound like a decent guy. Remember when you buy things that the builder of the product is not automatically responsible for giving you anything. Yes, it's a common expectation, and often you can get support, but not always. Ebay and other "secondary market" outlets for products are a problem for this industry in that individual salesmen and dealers remarket their components at a profit or to turn cash. This is not an "authorized outlet" for mfrs. who concern themselves with such things, and trouble for the buyer when support is needed. I look at things on Ebay and assume that whatever I might buy there (cameras, mainly) come with nothing actual or implied that wasn't listed.
That being said, I'm guessing you can get to where you want to go. You already have the brain cells to make the system you already own go; getting the resources either here or paying a dealer for the programming time or buying a Via Tools package from him.
