I am in need of some expert assistance.

Anyone good with Apex Destiny6100??

I just added a doorstrike using F1 relay #1 and added the EP8 relay module to my Apex sys. I also used relay #2 and #3 as a toggle switch turning on and off cameras using the F2 button. All 4 of the AP6160 keypads work without a hitch. It's the Elan via keypads (13 of them to be exact!) that still have the old F1 and F2 functions (or strings) still in the elan program. After getting off the phone with Ademco\Apex Tech support, I pretty much feel the Elan program might need to be updated somehow. Being that all the programming in the apex sys is working fine, Anyone out there know of a way to edit the f1 and f2 buttons in the Elan keypad to now operate the relay as all the other apex keypads do? Thanx for the Help, Bnc

BNC,
As you might know, each keypad address on an Apex system is independently programmable. Most likely you setup your keypads to address 1 and programmed the Apex to that address. However, VIA Tools always uses address eight.

I guess you can change the serial strings on the VIA panel but it will be easier to program Apex system address 8. What you have to do is:

1 – Disconnect the SC-4 from the Apex
2 – Assign on of the Apex keypad to address 8
3 – Program F1 and F2 for address 8 using the keypad above
4 – Reset the Apex keypad address back to 1 (or whatever address you are using)
5 – Reconnect the SC-4 to the Apex

It should work now!

OK, I'll give that a try. I think I have all the keypads set as address 1. You are right! I'll see what 8 does.

Thanx,
BNC

OK, It worked! But it only took one step instead of four. Check this out.

Apearantly, in the address of apex programming, all I did was tell it to respond with keypad address #1 AND #8. Rather then changing back and such, it let me select more than one address. Cool, huh?

Thanx lots,
BNC
