Please pay attention on the latest post date. Thanks for follow up, but the issue either had been laid to rest or had been solved.

Has any body been able to decipher the problem? i have a sony bravia 40" and I am able to hear but i can not see the picture on HD channels. Sony support had me buy a signal amplifier and that did not work. It seems to be something wrong with the TV. I tried the TV on another location where my fully functioning samsung is and the problem persisted. Sony support was no help whatsoever. when i tune into a HD channel it says I am receiving in 1080p but again i do not see the picture

What problem, the one about resurrecting old threads or the one about bad Sony tuners?

Regarding the Sony issue, how old is your TV? Is it under warranty? Have you checked for any updates for your model?

As for the old post problem, nope, nothing really can be done about it.

Hi,

I started getting the same problem with my sony bravia TV.
I was able to watch analog as well as HD channels but couple of days back i saw a message "unable to decode the signal", so i ran Auto Program and now i don't have any channels. The Auto Program only detects one analog and 1 digital channel. I tried factory setting and all other settings.

Please help!!!!

I am a Satellite and Antenna installer, and have experienced this on 4 different occasions, and can not get this figured out. I have installed Off Air antennas on each of these installs, and can not receive the digital / high def channels. When I scan for the channels on these TV's, it will indicate that I have 26 analog channels, and 18 digital cahnnels, and when I try to access these. it will not show up on the stored channels or or I can not direct access them by punchinng them in like 8-1 . The TV is a Sony KDl 40v3000. I have followed the directions in the manual, and have done everything that I can thing of, and have even called Sony. I have eliminated all splitters, and have other Tv's in the same household that are picking up the channels, but cannot get the Sony bravia to to let me view these. It has to be something simple, but I sure could use some help, any advise would be appreciated.

The tuner isn't set to receive cable channels, is it? See if it has a signal strenght indicator. You may have more noise than signal, like my house.

Well some Sony TV are prone to the fuse blowing on the tuner card, not saying this is the case in your circumstances. The following thread does go into this in more details.

Thank you all for your help. What I did was type in my tv model number and "update" into my browser and it took me straight to the sony website where I downloaded an update to a usb device and then plugged it into my tv. I had to print out the instructions and go through each step. My tv is now updated from a v 1.006 to a v 1.008. it went from picking up 63 to 158 digital channels over the air with a Clearstream 4 antenna hooked up to 5 tvs. No amplifier needed. and I now also get channel 2 (cbs) yeah more football
