I am a Satellite and Antenna installer, and have experienced this on 4 different occasions, and can not get this figured out. I have installed Off Air antennas on each of these installs, and can not receive the digital / high def channels. When I scan for the channels on these TV's, it will indicate that I have 26 analog channels, and 18 digital cahnnels, and when I try to access these. it will not show up on the stored channels or or I can not direct access them by punchinng them in like 8-1 . The TV is a Sony KDl 40v3000. I have followed the directions in the manual, and have done everything that I can thing of, and have even called Sony. I have eliminated all splitters, and have other Tv's in the same household that are picking up the channels, but cannot get the Sony bravia to to let me view these. It has to be something simple, but I sure could use some help, any advise would be appreciated.

You have seen 3 Sony KDI 40V3000 TVs with this same problem?
What did Sony say?
Do you have an amplifier in the system that might be overdriving the tuner?
What is the signal strength of the digital channels on the coax at the back of the TV?
Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.
Any wire cut to length will be too short.
I must be a near GENIUS. All my teachers told me I was at the very PEAK of the bell curve!

Have you tried the Sony at the locations of the other TV's that do receive the channels?
Sir, my concern is not whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God's side, for God is always right.

I have hooked up another tv at each one of these locations, and have had no problems receiving the digital signals. The sony worldwide help line were basically reading out of a book, asking me to try everything that was listed in there trouble shooting manual. I feel it has to be something in the set=up of the tv, that I am overloooking, andsince it has happened to me on 4 occasions, it is something very simple that I am missing.

Yes I have a Amplifier on the Channnel Master Antenna, and have bypased the amp, with no luck. I have hooked up another digital TV at the same location, and had no problem picking up the digital signals, this TV was a 32" Toshiba. Since I have had the same issues with 3 other Sony Bravia TV's, it seems that it has to be something I am overlooking. The Sony wide world help line, was no help at, they were basically reading out of the manual, and kept asking if I had tried this step, and that step per batum, out of the book.

are you viewing through the analog tuner? you need to switch to the proper ant source by changing inputs, or there may be a direct access button on the remote (I do not recall at this time)

Yes, I do recieve the analog signals very well, and there is only one RF input for the cable on the back. I have scoured over the remote, to see if there were options on the remote to channel from digital, to anolog, but there are none. I have seen some remotes that do this but this one does not. But I do like the way you are thinking, because I do feel it is something that easy.

But, I admit that I missed this myself while setting up that same unit...

i had a similar problem with my personal sony KDL23S2010, it scanned the digital channels but wouldn't surf to them. I ended up having to switch to digital mode, and type in the analog channel number, wait a few seconds, then scroll up to find the channels. For example, ABC over cable here is 115-2 and Fox is 115-4, I had to tell the TV to go to channel 115, wait a few seconds then scroll up and it found them that way. Since going through this process i have had no issues at all.

I have had this same problem several times myself and have found no solution for it as well. I cannot believe Kalkin's response is the only way to make this work. Its just a tuner, it shouldn't be that complicated

For tuner problems, especially the digital channels you should check for a TV firmware update at www.sonystyle.com. I was having some strange loss of digital channels on our 40" Bravia, starting with channels only appearing for a second before the screen produced a 'No Signal' message. After we tried the automatic retuning, then we could not even get the one second signal. None of this appeared on the description of the download. However, we downloaded the patch to our PC, loaded the file (19 MB) onto a small flash drive, which we then used to upgrade the firmware in the TV. All our digital tuner problems disappeared!!
