Samsung SIRTS-160 outputs component at 1080i and composite and S-video at 480i at the same time. Or, RGB and composite/S-video, DVI and composite/S-video, etc.

The Sony and the Zenith are the same box with a few minor differences in control.

Does anyone know if direct access ir codes are available for switching aspect ratios on programming that originates in 4x3?

If the programming originates in 4x3 and is 480i, you can use the s-video out and hook it to input one on the TV bypassing up-conversion in the DSS. Use the DVI,RGB, or component for the HD on video 2,3, or whatever and switch inputs instead of aspects. When you do it this way, a lot of TV's have seperate color, bright, contrast, etc.. adjustments for each input allowing you to fine-tune for SD and for HD. Most HD TV's also up-convert SD signals(480i to 1080i/720p) before they display them. As for your question, I have not seen discretes for the set-top box but I have found other ways to discretely work around it.
