Hi all, I am wiring up my surrounds in my new home and was thinking it would be best to run the wires under the carpet. Is there an easy way to do this so I don't have to pull up the whole thing? Thanks!

A company called Labor Saving Devices makes a specific tool to run wire under carpet; works pretty well.

Thanks, I found the undercarpet tape you were referring to but I can't see spending $50 just to run 2 cables under my carpet. Thanks for the info though.

Do you have a home depot in your area? I just bought a 25' flat fish tape that would be perfect for running under carpet. The cost was about $12. It's made by Greenlee.

I had to deal with the same situation myself in my house. I had to run 2 speaker wires from the home theater receiver to the back speakers. I removed the wooden transition (Molding) covering the end of the carpet between the living room and the kitchen. Lift up that piece of carpeting and run the speaker wire under. Stretch and staple the carpet back on, then screw the transition back in it's place, that took care of that side. The other, I did the same thing only the transition was in metal by the front door entrance threshold. As far as bringing the wires allway in back of the room were the speakers were, I pulled off the carpet moldings on each sides by the wall and stuck the speaker wires under the new moldings. It worked out perfectly and the wires are hidden all way thru.
