Opened up the 63" and SUPRISE.. no DB-9 jack.

Does anyone know anything about controlling these Samsung Plasma's using the EX LINK jack?

fp-t6374
fp-t5884
fp-t5084

anything= Where can i get my hands on an EX LINK cable? Where can i find RS-232 information for these models? Does anyone want to trade me for same size Fujitsu's to make my life easier? :)

Any help greatly appreciated. Samsung site no help. Google no help.

@ the end of the long painful road we were able to control the samsung TV's via RS232 using the EXLINK jack. The only problem is that the commands only work while the TV is on. Once the TV is off the commands do not work.

We went up thru many levels of tech support at samsung. Wasted phone calls. Then our programmer remembered a contact he knew at samsung that contacted korea and got us a diagram of the cable/rs-232 communication settings and a list of commands. Samsung's support didn't have access to any of this informationfor some reason.

The last i heard was that samsung may have to come out to change "boards" in each set. My advice is to stay away from Samsung if your planning to control your display via rs-232.

FYI the discreet IR codes work fine but the emitters have to travel up the face of the TV to the round power button in the bezel. The glossy black finish helps hide the emitters but it still SUX to have them hanging in front when our control system has rs-232.

For those of you looking for the Sammy info... The link above has the cable schematic/rs-232 settings & commands. Sorry about the .gif file. Thats how i got it.

FYI

The RS-232 commands only work when the display is ON. RS-232 does not work when the TV is OFF. This means that you can't use RS-232 to turn the TV ON. So your going to be using IR anyway.

Thanks.

Hi, Paul! I have this nice device (also called wmn-5090) and all i could do at a time is to read its firmware and disassemble it. To this moment only left-right-up-down commands are known more ore less exactly... i can't say it more exact because the work is not finished, besides all other commands like memory and power on - off are under research :) if you are interested in this i can mail you the results i have.

at this moment - 9600-8-n-1
theese are hex codes for WMN-5090
AD A2 01 03 A6 - LEFT
AD A2 01 04 A7 - RIGHT
AD A2 01 02 A5 - DOWN
AD A2 01 01 A4 - UP
AD A1 03 00 01 01 A6 - works like power off - fold the arm, but power on command and position retrieve code is not found yet.
maybe in a few days i'll add this and memory codes... (disassembling is in progress, but it takes time)

AD A1 03 01 00 01 A6 | AD FF 05 41 A1 01 00 01 E8 | Power on - move to last Pos.

AD A2 01 24 C7 | n/a | move right
AD A2 01 23 C6 | n/a | move left
AD A2 01 22 C5 | n/a | move down
AD A2 01 21 C4 | n/a | move up

AD A5 01 01 A7 | AD FF 03 41 A5 01 E9 | red
AD A5 01 02 A8 | AD FF 03 41 A5 02 EA | green
AD A5 01 03 A9 | AD FF 03 41 A5 03 EB | yellow

AD A1 03 00 00 01 A5 | AD FF 05 41 A1 00 00 01 E7 | Power off - fold the arm

may this helps someone making a tool to control the Samsung WNM-5090
via PC

Hi,

I am interested in your proggie and all info you can provide about this arm! Can you please send me your mail adress? I did not expect anyone could help me out so I made a new cicuit to solve this issue.
My screen is hanging on a fireplace so for me only the the top of my screen has to move forwards. (Better watch angle). The movement of the arm for example will move the screen to the left so than it is not in the middle anymore..
I connected the circuit to my Pronto RFX9600. So when the screen is turned on it moves, when I turn it off it moves back. (used only one relay of the pronto and one other relay to change direction)

If anyone would like to know how I did this please let me know.

BTW: I use it for my Pioneer screen...

Regards,

Paul

Hi, I did a google search for FP-T5084, I have this at the school in a classroom and want to control this Samsung FP. I have the part number for the TRS to DB9 cable to order from samsung, but need the control codes, you posted it as a gif, but that link is no longer valid. can you please send that to me ?

Thanks,
Cary
