I am looking for a decent piece of software or hardware solution for viewing and editing IR codes, preferably PC based. Please help if you know of any?

Get a Pronto :-), I know some people Robman got a Pronto for that same reason. On the PC you can view the IR code as a Hex string that can easily be interpreted

The programmer for Niles IntelliControl has a nice utility for veiwing ir. Combined w/ Pronto's hex editing, its very powerful.

I agree with all above...the Pronto and P. Pro both allow you to view and edit the actual code....they also allow you to copy and past the code as needed...combining this with Niles utility and online IR database, you're golden!
