I am looking to expand my programing horizons and was wondering if I could find a copy of Crestron edit or similar program for AMX. I do all of our Prono and Marantz programming as well as VIA programing and am finding all of it WAY to resrictive. I know that I can go to class for Crestron for a wopping total of $1,000 a day but I am a home theater installer so needless to say I can't afford that and Crestron will not give us the product because there are 7+ dealers in the market that they think we are in. Any way enough rambling email me if you know where I can get my hands on this [email protected]

Go to Crestron's web site and download their software. It's available to anyone. You will want/need to download (at a minimum):
VisionTools
SIMPL Windows
Database

I am reasonably near to Crestron West, and they tell me that the only charge for classes is 1)to get a certificate, the details of which I forget, which is part of being a Crestron dealer, and without which they will not even put you on a three-month waiting list, and 2)they will charge you if you do not show up because you will have wasted someone else's class opportunity.

Is the $1,000 a day what it will cost you to stay where you can go to classes at their HQ? Or is someone trying to discourage you because you are not now a Crestron dealer? Or did all this change in the last three months?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I was told it was $1,000 a day by Crestron reps when I went to CEDIA regionals a few months ago. That was if you weren't a dealer. If you were a dealer then the trianing was free.

Best thing you can do is call your nearest Crestron rep and ask them. You will need an opening order and need to send someone to training. You can provide your own transportation to save some cash.

We always use Crest cash for training. Kind of xxx Crest cash for every dollar you spend with them. Use it for merchandise, training, shirts etc.

Unfortunatly our rep just took over our territory and feels that there are too many dealers in the area that he lumped us into. We are just outside a big city and every one puts us into that market even though very little of our business comes from the city. Its all a shame because I could have sold enough pieces already to make an opening order. I guess I'll just have to play around myself.

Can you get a current local Crestron dealer to sponsor you? Crestron let me do this for a client that wants to have more knowledge of the systems he has in his facility. The training was free, just as if he were one of our employees.

Your best bet is to purchase a system and teach yourself to program it yourself. There are older systems for sale on Ebay for cheap.
