This is probably staring me right in the face but how do you get RC5 codes into Crestrons DEAL.
I am trying to convert codes for an Arcam DVD player which have been programmed into a pronto via their RC5 codes.

When attempting to cut and paste as I usually do the hex codes are much too short.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Crestron codes are shorter, don't ask me why. Did you try the code after you converted?
How hard can this be?

Thats just the problem, they won't convert this way.

I get the message "Invalid data format, Too many or too few data words"

To clarify: The code for keypad number 1 on the Arcam is RC5, System 25, Command 1.
Number 2 is RC5, System 25, Command 2, and so on.

I just need to convert these codes into a format Crestron understands.

Thanks anyhow.

Recently ran into this.... Prontos only store "shortcuts" to RC-5 codes which are decoded in the remote Crestron Deal will not accept this shortcut. RC-5 codes need to be learned with the CNXLIR

Thanks Impaqt,
I'm currently waiting for a new CNXLIR to arrive.

I'll try the Yahoo Crestron forum for a module.

I imagine there's somebody somewhere who knows how to convert these codes.

There is a program called IR Pro that you can get at this site. Actually, it looks like that site is down for now, but you may be able to find it elsewhere.

Thanks Matt,
That sounds like what I need.

I'm not sure if that site is down or simply a contender for the 'My sites slower than yours competition'.

Managed to get to the Home page but very little further.
Interesting site nonetheless.

I think Geoffrey Reynolds' Crestron IR Driver utility will import the RC5 codes. You can check it out here [Link: geocities.com]

You could teach another Pronto the codes while holding down the button for different periods of time. This would make the second pronto not recognize the RC-5 code and show the full-learned code. I've used this in different applications.

Curious to know how this turned out for you ... I was under the impression that in order to get RC-5 codes into another control system (i.e. CRESTRON)you would have to first put the codes into a PRONTO or equiv and then use the IR codes generated by the PRONTO inside the other system as many control systems to not provide for the RC-5 format.

Hope you were able to make it work, and please, share how you accomplished it !

On this occasion I obtained the Arcam DVD module I was looking for (problem solved).

As you suggest, you could use the CNXLIR to learn the IR codes from either the Pronto or the original remote.

As far as converting from RC5 to Crestron format there are programs available to do this.
Am still investigating.
