Hi all -

I am a recording engineer, and we in the process of upgrading our control room at the studio I work at. One of the idea is to have an IR remote for the producer to engage a remote controllable talkback switch using IR as the communication medium. The switch is an IR receiving circuit that can be used with any learning remote - it has an IR blaster on it so you can learn the codes you need.

Basically what I'm looking for is a very simple 1-3 button learning remote for this application. Does such a thing exist? I don't think these guys will be sold on a pronto-style touchscreen, so I am thinking a hard button remote that is really stripped down. Anything like this out there? Any ideas or advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Jordan

We have worked with things like this before for people with disabilities. Take a look at www.ablenetinc.com, the have things like what they call JellyBean buttons which can be used ir or contact. Also look at their TV/VCR button which is a single button and can learn ir. We have been able to use some of these buttons to perform sequences (with hardware in the background). One push, turn on tv and cablebox, next push scroll through favorite channels etc.

RTI U1 has very few buttons and is water resentant, so keeping it clean would be very useful. Note it is RF to an IR controler
