I have a major interferance problem with a Scientific Alanta 1300HD box. The Panasonic 42" Plasma is interfering with it. Makes the box go through all channels at will. I belive the infared coming off the Plasma must be close the the IR code for the cable up on the box because the rest of the componets on the Plasma safe IR repeater system are fine. Has anyone ever had this or have an idea on what might fix it? Any help would be great because right now i have no idea other than a Pronto RF system but this guy doesnt want to spend the $$ for it.

If your already using a repeater system, all you should have to do is physically block the IR receiver on the front of the cable box.Black tape, Cardboard, small child etc etc etc.....

However, I find this hard to belive, have you turned the plasma off and confirmed that the problem goes away? I've never seen this before.

I have.....when the tv is off the unit works fine on a regular screen. If the ir reciver is blocked then the unit will be uncontrolable via remote so thats not an option.

What about masking the IR receiver window on the SA cable box, or even moving the cable box to a closet away from the plasma. Good luck and let us know what you find.

Your Original post states that there is an IR repeater system in place. Run an emitter off the repeater system to the cable box then bock the window.

The the Emitter tapes directly ro the Cable box, then Black tape or use cardboard(Or a small child)to block the window.

I've had this happen with an IR repeater, but never on a piece of equipment itself. We ended up having to move the IR receiver further from the plasma.

Are you using an Audioplex or Xantech plasma-proof IR receiver? What kind of wiring are you using from the IR receiver to the connecting block and where is the block located(near the set)? Is the wire shielded? You could use the Xantech emitters with talk back to test for interference.
