I have an install coming up that I am limited to 14.5 inches of depth for the projector. Width is not a problem up to 26 inches. Our budget is up to $20,000 for the projector. Screen is 120 inch diagonal 16/9 With 4.3 masking. It is going to be installed in a living room with controlled lighting. Has anyone ever installed a Dwin Transvision 3 projector? Any suggestions
Thanks advance

What did you need to know about it?

How is the picture quality? Do they have discrete on / off, input codes? Are they reliable units? Last week I installed the Marantz 12S2 projector the picture was awesome. How would you compare the dwin to the Marantz.

We have installed lots of the DWIN TV2's and i'm sure we will do lots of the TV3's they do have seperate on offs, input controls just about wverything you need. I prefer the look of the two piece unit like the dwin, just makes a cleaner install not having to run tons of wires up to the ceiling, also makes adding new equipment very easy. As far as reliability and tech support ya gotta love 'em if anything does happen to one of their projectors, rare but hey electronics break, i've never dealt with a better company when it comes to fixing a product and getting it back to the consumer.

Yep, you can select the "TV" command for power on, and the "power" command to be used as power off in the setup menu.

Full discrete inputs AND aspect ratios via IR and serial.

Are they reliable units?

Knock on wood, we haven't had an issue yet.

I haven't seen the 2 side-by-side, but both have amazing pictures. The Marantz probably wins overall picture quality, but not by much. But then again, you're also talking a diference in price.

The Dwin gets my vote for performance to cost ratio, and I like the fact that you don't have to run multiple cables to the projector. One cable does video AND control. All inputs and connection to external control system are on the scaler, and you can use short cables within the rack to make all your connections.

John is that a special cable. I already ran my cables. (component cable , RGB HV, 1 4/16 and two cat 5)The Projector is about 30 feet from the A/V Rack so runing a new wire is not an option right now.

The connection between the projector and the scaler is a DVI Digital cable on the Transvision 3. Earlier Transvisions (1 and 2) used 5 BNC's (RGB, CS, and Control).

I believe it ships with a 30ft DVI cable, but you can get up to a 50ft cable from Dwin.

Looks like some retro work. :(

Got to add my 2 cents. The Transvision3 is a GREAT projector. We did have to run the DVI cable in a space with finished space above so lots of drywall repair but they have modified the cable so you only need to drill a 3/4 inch hole. When they start shipping the Transscanner3 scaler as a standalone piece (read: great for plasmas with a DVI in) there is then a DVI adaptor back to standard configuration. It is awesome having the inputs all plug in at the rack. Our client uses it a lot for his computer monitor and it looks fantastic (XBOX is rather cool in 4 way splitscreen too).

Unfortunately running a new cable now is not an option. I am looking into the new Runco CL-710. It has 1280 x 720 16 x 9 aspect ratio, HD 2 DMD chip. Runco said that the CL 710 will be shipping in late April, But that they did not decide on the throw distance 1.8-2.4 :) or a short throw 1.33 - 1.60 :(
