Audioplex plasmaproof target/niles or russound ir engine/ mini(3.5mm) plug or flasher into or onto sony 400cd changer (also pioneer sacd) does not seem to pass ir ..will not control ..other units receiver (harmon) ,dish work fine. The sony remote & pioneer remote work pointed directly at the units...Something about the ir carriers not being 38khz? Not even into setting up the universal remote yet

They probably have some type of feedback....the regular Audioplex stuff will not handle two way IR.

I've never used the Audioplex, but Xantech's "filtered" receivers will only work withing certain frequency ranges. Contact Audioplex's tech support -- they should have a fix...

There could be a number of problems but current Pioneer and Sony products have extremely easy IR to deal with and the Audioplex or Xantech work well(I am prejudiced against Niles with their series connection scheme because troubleshooting is a pain). Look towards faulty emitters/flashers or incorrect wiring or emitter placement. Break down the IR system and try one known working emitter on each of the components one at a time. LOL

I prefer Audioplex IR stuff, unfortunatly, Xantech is far more available. Audioplex seems to be way more reliable due to their frequency 'split' systems.

Yes indeed! And also, the - of the LED is not the ground of the Niles chassis, so if you connect to, say, the IR input of a Lexicon preamp, the IR will not work if ANY other part of the IR system connects to your system's ground!

Xantech offers a visible LED with a cable and a mini plug on it for troubleshooting, or you can just get any old LED and put 330 ohms in series with it...it will tell you if a signal is there. With that resistance, you could connect to your signal bus, or to an LED output, or even to the 12 volt supply, and you will know immediately when voltage is present.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
