This morning I got to see a $57 million painting at a new client's home.

I guess a $1.95 picture of my beach house won't impress?

that is insane! I will never understand the art world

To put it into perspective, that's one piece of art in a house that's full of other art and sculpture.  The house is for sale for $40M, so the value of the art and furnishings exceeds the value of the home... and this is a vacation home that's occupied about 3 months out of the year.

My dad has a masters degree in art so I grew up around and can appreciating art.  I have other clients with significant art collections, but the tour today was very remarkable.

From what I understand the clients have a large part of their collection on loan to museums and galleries for others to enjoy.  If I had the means, I'd surround myself with nice stuff that's fun to look at too!

I had a client explain to me that his art collection was an investment not just a hobby. He said most of his collection could be turned into cash in a few months, depending on the auction schedule, if he needed it. He is an avid collector and just enjoys his investments with a glass of wine and some quiet music on in the background.

Replaced a 10 year old top of the line Sony projector with a new top of the line Sony projector. $87,000 setting there, new retail price of both projectors.

I picked this illuminated logitech keyboard up over the weekend. Comfortable to use, quiet typing. Bank gothic font & flat black finish make it look cool and all of the function keys/dual purpose icons are marked in orange on top with the F1 etc on the side.

One thing i would change is that its so low profile. Looks cool on the desk but i would be happy if it were a half inch taller. I keep the keyboard on top of the desk not in a keyboard tray. If you use a keyboard tray its a non issue.

Just bought the exact same keyboard. The first one went with my 27" iMac that i gifted to a relative when i realized that i wasn't very good at keep data backed up to the cloud so that i could access it from the desktop and laptop.

I have been slowly setting up my home office after living here for almost a year. I went through a box with a half dozen keyboards that are broke, missing the wireless receiver or they just suck. Finally just decided to buy it again. Must be a big hit if they still have it on their site after all these years.

...on the topic of keyboards.

I was at a house today and maybe I'm behind the times but I ran into a mechanical keyboard. Last time I remember using a mechanical keyboard was at the public library in the 80's. These were the keyboards we used with the loud 'clicking' keys and apparently they're currently all the rage with the gaming crowd. Memories of my video arcade days quickly returned. I also have it and has been my favorite keyboard ever, not everything good is wireless!

Mechanical keyboards are big with gamers...says my nephew anyway. I actually have a lenovo mechanical keyboard at the office that i love. They come free with every lenovo rack PC we order. I give them away all the time because rack PC's get a rack mount keyboard.

Mac,
I own the same Lenovo keyboard. I thought for sure it was a mechanical but I was wrong. I popped a key off and it was a membrane style so it looks similar but the key function is different. It's also a lot louder. Love the keyboard but I guarantee my wife would have some words for me if I brought home a true mechanical keyboard. Added a link so you can hear the difference.

Mechanical..

At first i was going to LOL @ the video. "Satisfying sound" but then i remembered listening to a bunch of muscle car engines over the summer trying to find the most satisfying sound lmfao.

Adding...

The whole reason i sought out this illuminated logitech is because about 10 years ago my office was the corner nook of the master bedroom. At 10PM the lights would go out and i had to keep quiet so i needed something illuminated that didn't make a lot of noise.

Today it was all of 45 at the beach, but I still went out and started putting the roof sheathing on the new 10x16 building to house the golf cart.

Wasn't bad until those breezes off the ocean began blowing around.

I hate winter....

Went into a local high end bar to finish programming on an RTI KX3, AD4X, CP-1650, and a Fusion Research music server. Went to lunch. Came back and Comcast installer replaced the Gateway....I was angry....
