Only because we want to see if others are just as bad off in their day to day miseries... :-)

Oh, and my day involved sitting at the beach drinking wine.

If it makes you feel any better, its also my brother's birthday, his 40th, and he got to spend it combing a field picking up wet dog shit with a rubber glove. I guess the joys of being an estate handy man/groundskeeper/poop picker upper.

That brings back nightmares from back when I used to do contract AMX programming.. I was hired to program an AMX system in a home in Desert Mountain Arizona North of Scottsdale. When I arrived on scene to begin programming and testing the guys on site had only just begun to actually hook anything up and were actually watching SNL skits on youtube on their laptop in the rack room.

The pair of techs for the installation company produced a work of art that would make that rack look immaculate. Every 20-30 minutes they would come running to me wondering what I changed or "broke" in the programming because now the Master Bedroom TV doesn't work.. or now the Dining Room speakers don't work.. and so on and so on.. All the while none of it was ever programming. Every time they would reach into the rack to plug something else in their arm would snag something or else just the shear weight of unsupported or tied down wires would pull something else out.

That company had zero business selling these systems yet they were one of the biggest high end producers in the area at the time.. Sad.

The worst rack install i ever saw was a full blown crestron system in a $19,000,000 22,000sq ft house.

The rack in my picture is in a well known home that's been featured in Architectural Digest and several of those "Extreme Home" TV shows.

The property is going through some renovations with new owners and I'm slowly cleaning up and doing upgrades.

That rack was super scary the first time I saw it.  It's already been through the first phase of cleanup when all of this was removed.

The stack of cable boxes also reminds of another project I was brought over to look at by this same company in Phoenix.. They had a cabinet with 6 DirecTV HD boxes stacked right up on each other without any spacers, shelves or fans and couldn't figure out why they had to reboot and replace so many of the "junk" DirecTV boxes. lol

Today, the wife and I and 11 other of her family members partook in the Hope in Motion walk to raise money for the Bennet Cancer Center. It's a 3.1 mile walk and this was our 3rd year doing the walk. There was a great turn out and the event raised more than $630,000 to go directly to the cancer center which offers aid to cancer patients and survivors. All in all, it was a good day.
