British Leyland gas gauge = Wooden dowel.
British Leyland turn signal = Screaming "I'm turning!".
British Leyland speedometer = Bounces between 1 and 70.
British Leyland oil pressure gauge = Always reads zero.
No big deal as long as the car still runs.... My gas gauge works perfectly Turn signal stalk was stuck when I got the car. Replaced and works great. Replaced speedometer cable this week, it's accurate and steady now. Oil pressure is between 50 and 75, she's good.

Today I celebrate 10 years of self employment! I officially started the business January 1st, 2006, but didn't finish up obligations to my previous employer until the end of May so my first day of full-time self employment was June 1st, 2006.

Life is good! WTF? You're supposed to do a surprise engagement party during cedia at a nondescript bar in downtown Dallas. With all of your RC junkies there to celebrate.

Worked on the MG all day. Works is really busy, but I found a guy on the MG forum that is local that was willing to help me do a bunch of work, and today was his availability. I had to choose between having some fun and learn something new, or be miserable and make money. I chose fun.
Changed out all four shock absorbers, tie rods ends and axle boots, plugs, wires, accelerator cable, rear diff oil. Last week changed all other fluids, new oil filter since the car came with the wrong size filter, added an oil cooler which was missing. It looks like the car had A/C at some point and they removed the oil cooler as the A/C got in the way of the cooler hoses. We also changed the speedometer cable, temp sending unit and some other minor things.
Working on an old car is more fun that electronics.

Like electronics, just about the time you think you've got it, something else happens. At the end of the day, I get to drive MY car. With electronics, at the end of the day, I get emails with no greetings, no thank you for spending 10-12 hours getting the system ready before a holiday weekend, just emails that say, "why is there a fan noise" "when is the system gonna be finished" "why can't I on this system"
I will take hours of labor on my own car over that BS any day of the week

Just drawing a parallel of sorts.
You cars way of giving you "no thank you" fpr those 10 to 12 hours is to break down when you're farther from home than ever before.... LOL
You MUST talk nice to it all the time you're driving.

Congratulation. But here is the real question: "Are you ready to serve for life?" Once the ring is mounted on your left hand finger, there is no way to back out your vow. On July 4, 2016 at 23:27, 3PedalMINI said...

Kind of relieved to be out of the industry. Pursuing my new passion --- it's still technical --- electric bikes! Lots of fun for trail riding and inner city riding! Test rode a Haibike Pro Downhill. Great rig. Lots of new advancements in the E-bike / E-motorcycle business. Hoping to find an HPC dealer around here. They are building some crazy stuff as well. There are as many passionate nerds in this business as there are in Home Integration. I'm having fun with it, and getting exercise too!

My house was damaged by a tree during a quick and strong storm Friday morning. I'm so glad no body was hurt. My wife and I left about 30 mins before it happened and our foster boys came out of their room about 20 mins before this happened. Their room was demolished. We can't even see one of the beds due to the debrie. We will be out of our house for about 3 months or so according to a contractor I talked to. In the process of trying to find a short term rental. The reality of the situation didn't really sink in until this evening. I am very thankful because it could of been much worse. [Link: facebook.com]
