Good to see you alihashemi, been awhile.

Your picture helps me to make a point to back east folk, now mind yall its a very grand generalization but...

I always told people back east/mid west that the difference between coasts is back east you will see a 1 to 2 million dollar home with a Chevy truck in the driveway and on the west coast you see people living in apartments with expensive cars.

Just a different perspective and they look at me like im crazy.

Then they come visit me and say,"I've never seen so many European cars on the road in my life"
Then I take them to Cars and Coffee and they shit the bed and after that I take them and go drive around Newport/Dana Point and Laguna Beach. Its fun to see their eyes so big!

Lets not start the whole stick/auto trans thing again.

Just sold our Benz C230 Kompressor with a very hard 210k miles on it, original everything, a testament to the brand.

The 1M is actually one of the "legendary" BMW's now. It used selling price with over 20k miles is actually worth more than the original MSRP of the car now. It was labeled as the last enthusiast car until the M235i came out and it is still one of the most respect cars among real BMW enthusiasts!

Yeah... Not exactly. Talk to a German certified tech. They laugh at the 1 series, just as they are now laughing at the 2 series. These are marketing strategies to sell to people buying a name.

Hey! Thanks man. I've been checking the forum daily, as usual, just not posting as much. Ha, very true! I live in Irvine, close to Newport. That's actually outside of my boss's house. He's in his mid 40's and not married so I'll give him a pass on the crazy car and an apartment, haha, but I definitely understand what you mean. OC area is honestly very weird. I've never been able to wrap my head around how the people operate. It's funny, the company I worked for is in LA. Anytime I went on a job and there were LA natives they always spoke about being able to "sniff" us OC guys!

LOL, I don't care what anyone who works at BMW says. Anyone who's owned the cars for the last years knows that most of the techs don't know much. I've been around the BMW culture for a while now, and there isn't a single person, reviewer, or professional driver that's driven then 1M and the M235 and says that they are a marketing scheme. there is a reason the 1M is selling USED more than it was new. There's also a reason the BMW is back ordered on the M235i. My cousin is an M certified tech at Irvine BMW and he even says most of the techs and enthusiast love these cars. But like I said, I don't take these guys' word for much. If you haven't driven these cars then your opinion holds no weight, I'm sorry.

PS, I agree with your statement about the 28i models but absolutely disagree about the 1M and the M235.

Ah, kid, Audi, Porche, and VW are all German too. And the 1 series was a joke, especially when then dumped the 50/50 ratio. (Which btw, the 2 series now has). It's an attempt to sell lower priced cars.

Now, being that German cars come with very few options between levels, what does that really say about performance? It says you've been played.

In Europe and those "little" BMW's, and Mercedes, are used as cabs.

So much for a panache of driving a luxury car.... LOL

As an aside, I see where Cadillac is going back to Nurburgring with the new V series cars. Looking to show up the eurocars once again.

I had a friend that years ago pointed out that in Europe even the hookers and taxi drivers have Mercedes.

They are "domestic" cars over there.

3 Pedal:

I've had my EBII M235i for a few weeks now and I seriously can't recommend the car enough. I think it'll be the perfect car for you. Two things I think are a must have on their:
1. 3 Pedals
2. Limited Slip Diff.

They make a world's difference. My boss drives and M6 and even he says the only other car that he finds even close to being as fun as his M6 is the M235i. I ended up ordering the car, took about 2 months to get here, but definitely worth the wait to get the specs I wanted. Its an enthusiast car and it is definitely made to drive on a track. I'll post a video of the "un-packaging" when I get a chance!

Here she is next to the M6:

I didn't think you all would be BMW fans!!!

If you want to wait till next year, on a wait list, and pay over MSRP, wait for the M2. It will have some better features like:

1.DCT if you don't go manual (I'd question your man hood if you didn't get a manual;) )

2. Perhaps a CF roof

3. Maybe 30-40 more HP and Torque

4. Maybe a slightly better interior/nicer seats.

I couldn't wait for the M2 due to my lease timing but I definitely would get an M2 or an M4 as my next car in 3 years. The drive is totally different between the two. Go to a dealership and test drive the M4 and you will see it is made for a completely different drive. You can't compare the two and say go get the 4. It is honestly comparing apples to oranges because the cars are made for completely different purposes. The M235i can take an M4 on the track. The M2 SURELY will. Either way, enjoy the purchasing and test driving process and the excitement it brings!

Also, If you're into drifting, check out Chris Haris' video of drifting in the M235i. His car is very similar to mine, same color, has the LSD, and it is of course manual!

Dude!! you have my exact car im ordering. Estoril blue!! I debated about doing the individual program since im saving 3500 bucks by doing euro delivery but in the end I just love Estoril. Im going to add all the ///M performance visual parts too. The one thing im debating about is doing the LSD. Im leaning towards it now.

Here it is as ordered:
M235i 6 speed (was there any question? ;)
Estoril Blue
Cold Weather Package
Sunroof Delete
Alcantra Seats
LSD????

Ill be doing the Dinan Chip,CAI and exhaust and 1/2" lowering springs Should get me to ~400 HP and 406 ft.lb. of torque!!!

I was actually the first one on the waiting list for the M2 on the east coast, I was hoping todo the launch party like they did last year with the m4/m3s but my dealer called me and said due to the amount of work it took they are asking for a 5k premium for the launch party. I thought about it for a few weeks but decided i would put my deposit towards the M235i. The dealer that put that trip together and sold 90% of those m4/m3s is the same one im ordering my 235i from.

The m2 wont be limited like the m1, Ill probably end up doing it when the lease is up on the 235i. It sucked giving up my spot but i just cant justify the premium.

Im also going to have my 235i delivered to the performance delivery center in spartanburg! Ill drive it home and make my way up the tail of the dragon.

Im so freaking excited!

3 series is to big and unattached from the road, its not to say its not a good car but its not what it used to be. Its now a grocery getter rather then a drivers car.

the 2 series is actually the size of the old 3 series believe it or not. 2 series is an enthusiasts/drivers car, my dad has a 228i and its just a stupid fun car. im going with the 235i (possibly) Test drove it today and OMG is it fast.

Nope, my dad has the 228i and its quick and so fun, testdrove the 235i and holy shit that is quick. I just cant justify the M2 anymore considering how epic the 235i is.

this is coming from someone who had a mini cooper!! ;)

You BMW guys are bad for me. After working with Tony Golden for a few weeks last year i wanted a BMW really bad. He drove his 6 series coupe to Florida. What a beautiful car. But then i got back home and the spell wore off :).

I get over it pretty quick after searching for a few weeks for the golden unicorn unsuccessfully.

Now I am on the prowl for a project '64 continental. Baller!

The 64 is a nice ride. I just sold my 69 mark iii. The plan was to sell it and then buy the BMW but then i got home and bought a versa hatchback instead :).

The flashbacks from 2007-8 when i had $1500 every month in car notes as work began to slow...keeps me living in (my) reality.

Mac,
I know you recently bought a couple cars, but for the next round, make it a BMW and you will NEVER go back. Well, unless your cash flow allows for a super car;). If you truly enjoy driving (I have no idea how bad traffic is in your neck of the woods but I assume it's not worse than LA) then spring for it!!!

Dude,
In all honesty, the LSD is the best option I got on my car. It is one I definitely can't live without. It isn't the M LSD so it only has 30% lock versus the 100% lock M LSD, but it changes the car completely! If you're getting this as a drivers car, which it seems like you are, then get the LSD even if it means sacrificing a few of the M Performance aesthetics. I've been able to take 25mph U shaped on ramps going 60mph in Sports + (thus on DTC) and the car literally does not move. Its as if the car is glued to the road. Also, if you're going to start doing individual stuff man, the cost will go through the roof! I think just Yas Marina Blue will cost you an extra 5k, but more power to you, my friend! EBII is a beautiful color, though, so you can't go wrong!

I honestly regret not getting the Alcantara steering wheel and shift knob as well as all of the M Performance accents. They really change the aesthetics of the cabin and man, that steering wheel is so damn cool!!! I really like the shift notifiers as they are way more accurate than the stupid little digital one you get on the instrument cluster.

I'm very jealous that you're doing ED. I'm not sure if you're on 2addicts but, if you are, check out the ED blog that is on the first or second page. One of the guys did a very detailed blog of his adventures and it looks incredible. My next car, either the M2 or M4, will be ED'd for sure. By then I'll be done with school and I can hopefully afford the time away.

Hope you enjoy the trip man, I am very happy for you (and a bit jealous, okay)!!!
