I struck out at every turn on the install I tried today.

Fish wires first... drill holes in sheetrock second. Words to live by. (Mr. Stanley- heh)

It's a damned good thing I tried fishing wires first- there was no getting them through the chimney stack w/o a 20 foot long drill bit...
We can do it my way, or we can do it my way while I yell. The choice is yours.

Hate it when that happens! Irregardless of how well an install may be planned, there is always some dang thing that you forgot, or a little 10 cent part you ran out of!!!

Yesterday I was terminating some RG59's (components to Plasma)... I was short by (1) RG59 compression fitting!!! I drove about a half hour to get one...
When I put my hand in my coat pocket at the store to get out my wallet, I had one rolling around in my pocket, along with a couple drywall screws and a rca barrel connector--- so I didn't need to go there after all!!!

sh*t

Friday I finished up part of a job that I posted about back in August. It's an LCD that I took apart to extend the headphone jack allowing the customer to plug in headphones and mute the internal speakers while relaxing in his recliner:
[Link: remotecentral.com]

Well, the recliner turned into an adjustable bed, and then the adjustable bed was ugly so they had a custom bed frame built. It's located in a study and kind of cool... the TV is recessed into one wall and the adjustable bed is against the far wall. There's also a stationary memory foam mattress to match the bed that fills in the space between the foot of the bed and the wall that the TV is on.

One of the drawers in the bottom is really a false front that hinges down to allow access to the DVR & DVD which are located on shelves.

The bed is 12ft end-to-end and the customers grand kids have nick named it "The Shrek Bed" because of how large it is! The headphone jack is recessed into the bed frame behind the pillows and the adjustable bed allows you to raise/lower your head and/or feet and has a massage function all controlled by remote.

SB Smarthomes,

Is it just the camera angle, or is there not a level picture in that room?

I think only a couple are crooked, but you're right... the camera seems to exagerate it. Someone had just hung the pictures a couple hours previous and the pillows and mattress cover were just delivered and put in place about 10mins before I snapped the picture.

The home owners are both pretty detailed types, so I expect they'll be straight next time I'm there.

If not, I'll tell them Bubby says to "straighen those damn pictures already!". :)

Monday this builder asked me to trim out some speakers and work on the MEC. He scheduled me out there for Thursday--(today).

The MEC is in a room with a granite floor. So... I install the speakers that needed to be installed, and was setting up my tools and stuff in the MEC room, when the door opens and it's the tile guy... HE was ALSO scheduled for today to remove the granite in that same room (it's cracked)... I had to leave the job and reschedule for tomorrow A.M. which pisses me off, cause I was gonna hang with my kid tomorrow!

Uh....you were there first. Was the tile guy bigger than you or more important than you. The tile guys here do not speak English so I just tell them marcharse and they seem to go away. I hope I am not telling them to get F'ed or something. One of my installers started doing it and it worked so well I do it now.

Last week i worked on a small theatre that will be finished shortly. The picture, sound and room treatments are all done. Unfortunately my timing for taking pics was not too good. Forgot to take early shots of the side walls before fabric panels went on to show bass traps and acoustic panels and mounted surround speakers. Didn't take pics of installed screen and rack as there was not enough light for my phone camera by the time i had finished. The rear wall still needs it's printed curtain in front of the back surrounds and the joinery containing the Main speakers still needs fabric coverings.

So....here's a list of gear and the pics i do have of the partly finished room. I will post pics of the finished room when i get some.

Triad Bronze 7.2 speaker system (subs center of front and rear walls, amps back at rack)
Cary processor
Cary Amp
Audessy EQ (stand alone)
Homecast STB
Foxtel IQ
Blueray player on it's way (standard DVD at the moment)
JVC HD1 projector
Screen research screen (PITA to build)

Not sure why the edges in these panels are jagged looking, they are actually very straight and clean

Thanks Mr.Stan,
By the time i left it was all up and running and although the Audessy wasn't set up because there are no chairs in the room yet, it looked and sounded pretty darn good. I have to say that the JVC HD1 projector looked pretty good straight out of the box too, but will look better once it's had an ISF calibration in 100 hrs or so.
