Those Crown CDi amps are pretty incredible to setup with the amount of DSP and control. Would be great if you could login from a phone or ipad and make changes while you are standing in the yard. Not sure if you already can or not.

Why not just use the xover's as a tool to find what sounds good and then remove and set in Amp...too much time?

Of course you can. This is why I think it is best to get rid of a external drive rack or crossover. The more you work with the crown processing the better you get. We install a router at the rack for setup purposes only and walk out on the patio with a laptop and eq everything. Lock the setup and your done.

I still stand by the external crossover if you can fit it into the budget.

One of the benefits for this job is that with the big Control 29s I ended up with a crossover point that sounded best around 70hz.  The lowest crossover point in the CDi DSP I think was 90hz so the external crossover let me select a better sounding setting and was more flexible.

Crown has an iPad app for some of the newer amps, but I don't think it works with the CDi models that only have a USB port (no Ethernet).

We mainly use the i-tech or xti crown stuff. You must be using the CDI series because of the 70 volt. I have never used any of the CDI series. If you dont connect the amps to a laptop with the software then you will not get a variable platform to eq with. if you just use the front control panel you will be limited in your range. It seems like we hooked up a a cdi to our laptop before and used the software to get a better range than the front panel. Is this how you are doing this?

Yes, The CDi was used because everything is 70v except for the subs.  I'm not sure if the CDi line allows for more flexibility with the DSP or if it's just an easier interface if you need to create lots of presets.

To be honest I've never tried connecting my laptop because the DSP setup through the front panel is so simple (I generally just define a single preset).

I like it. But you don't want any words to describe what you do? Line drawings of products is really cool and appealing to the eye, but......?

I love your logo though...

Looks good. The only thing that jumps out at me is the icons being different sizes. The text stacked above them gives it a "bumpy" jumbled look. I would try creating a square with rounded edges box for each icon so they are symmetrical (like app icons). This will smooth things out visually.

If you don't like the "app icon" look i would try and get the icons to be closer to the same size or play with arrangement.

Another option would be to go bigger with the icons so that their tops are just under the door handle. Make their lines lighter and then have the gorge domain right down the middle of them. So basically the icons are the background for the text. See the logo at this site [Link: reillywd.com] . These guys have vans with huge versions of that logo. You can see the logo but the text is obvious too.

I was originally thinking of buttons, but for whatever reason they came up with this first. It is still in flux, the logo is moving to the left to fill dead space and the lightning bolts are going away. I am going to have to play with the icons...

I am not really wanting to do much text because our current vans have a lot of it and it just looks jumbled. Plus nobody gets the keywords.

This is sort of what i had in mind. Not sure if i love it. Maybe if the entire van had the faded product icon "wallpaper" with the logo and text on top of it.

Personally, With all my experience with vehicle lettering is that NOBODY gets it. My current van is simply lettered, but to tell you the truth i think next time around im just going to have my logo done, number and website on the area where your logo is and on the rear and call it a day.

I really like yours, simple & catchy! if people cant understand your logo and the icons do you really want them as your customer? keep it simple, have your website span the width of the icons and call it good.

Sweet looking graphics/logo!

Next time you set one up, take your laptop and connect to the cdi. You will find more eq options. May get what you have been looking for out of it.

I agree with some of the other sentiments here, less is more. BUT you can go crazy thinking about this too much. If it looks clean and is easily understood I think you're onto a winner.

I pushed so hard to have more info on our trucks and was basically told to STFU by our designer. He was right and that's why we paid him. I still like our design over a year later.
