Sad to see they took the extra effort to paint screw-type covers instead of screwless.

The sad part is that the keypad was installed right after sheet rock so they could have lights at the house. Totally temporary. The white buttons with sticker labels are not permanent. There are NO wall plates in the house with screws. They are all screwless. The interior designer is dictating what Lutron finish goes in what room so nothing should be installed yet.

So basically the wall paper guy pulled this single gang plate out of his own truck for some reason. I really have no idea what got in his head. He wrapped it with wall paper to match the wall.

Nice work as always, Paul.

Today we started our biggest prewire of 2012 so far. 8 zones of HD video, 9 stereo audio zones, two 5.1 systems, 4 cameras, alarm & structured wiring. Every subcontractor imaginable is on site today. It's a mess.

Thanks Chris.  I hate working at crowded jobsites, but seems like it's always the case.  Nothing worse than 10-15 trucks & vans deep down the driveway or street and having to hike out for stuff.

I'm not sure why, but it seems like even in a 10-12K sq ft house all the trades end up being jammed in one small area somehow tripping on each other!

cshepart, good to hear!

GOM scrim, Paul? Wood frame, you constructed?

Similar cabinet, in my home. Empty, ugly space above the display. Center channel below, on a shelf. Thanks for the tip, may move it up.

Wood frame, wrapped in speaker cloth.  Originally built by the cabinet maker to fit around the 50" rear projection TV that was in place before the upgrades.  Cabinet maker is supposed to rebuilt the scrim, but if he flakes I think I can do it.

I've been calling this thing a "scrim", but don't really know if that's the right term?

Its because General Contractors (residential space anyway) do not know how to properly manage projects. Their only management tactic is to pretend like everything has to be done yesterday.

I got an email last week telling me that my lighting system had to be fully installed and at least programmed for ON/OFF. I show up at the project and find 50% of the fixtures missing. 25% of the fixtures are just job lights hanging where a fixture should go. Inspection is Wednesday. Electrician told me today that hes coming tomorrow to cap off anything without a fixture.

So 25% of the fixtures for the house are all that can be controlled but for some reason 100% of the lighting system needs to be online. Would have been nice if i would have gotten an email that said "Only 25% of the fixtures are installed, can you please give us control of those loads?" instead of the "you guys have to get our here yesterday and get everything installed asap".

Today i continued installation of a 192 Lutron keypads. I have had to dig a few keypad locations out around the house. Some behind drywall and some just behind wall paper. This one takes the cake. They actually installed a wall plate for me.

Mac, the cover screwes are not level, you got to fix that.

I did. I tossed them in the dumpster along with the wall plate.

yeah i have to agree, i really hope that wall is in a nursery or 3 year old little girls room.

Have to hand it to the wallpaper guys to wrap that, they probably thought it would be a nice touch. Especially sense they have probably never seen a "light switch" quite like that lol

Many years ago we added switches in a pool bath where the wall paper was supposed to look like rotting, mildewed subway walls. No lie. Even 25 years ago the stuff was like $500 a roll. Black and green and nasty. I kept the chunk we cut out for years just to show people LOL. And the homeowner was a designer. Go figure.

We did this job a while back and it was a wallpaper room. Coolest wall paper I have seen. It was like gravel in the wallpaper. The home also had cork board down in the kitchen floor. Wallpaper is back in our area

Edit- Just realized how terrible the picture came out. Can't even see the wallpaper.
My bad. You will have to trust me on this one.

I believe you. We have a house here that has that, or something similar based upon your description. One of the times our guys drilled through the wrong side of the wall with one of those ridiculous 6' flex bits the bit popped out on the other side that had that wallpaper; oops!

Today I was upgraded from Bronchitis to full blown Pneumonia.. Along with that I got a beautiful private suite in a corner room at my local health care facility.

Nice amenities here, free wifi, basic DirecTV, (motel basic), and of course a beautifully mounted flat panel to watch all of those standard def channels. On.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

At least the service and care here are top notch, and the drugs aren't bad either.

Just came across this pic in a folder I haven't looked at for a while. It's the side wall of a Theater I did a couple of years ago showing all the acoustic paneling prior to the wall being covered in fabric. For those in Oz like me the paneling is from Wavetrain Acoustics.
