jimstoltz in post 4,185 looks like he was working on a serious 3 stooges moment as well! hahaha!

Met with 3 different design firms regarding a new logo, & business identity etc..
The bids or proposals ranged from $550.00 to $16,200!!!

I work for tools and interesting trades :).

About 8 years ago i was looking to have a logo made and it was insane. One guy wanted $8000.00 and his contract limited my use of the logo and stated that he owned it and required royalties if i used it beyond the scope of his use agreement. What the heck? I wonder how often he pays his rent.

Signed a 700 home contract today.
Structured Cable, 5.1 and security Standard. Options for Distributed A/V, Lighting, Central Vac and Control. This will nicely fill the December/January Gaps at which time I will be looking for a Lead Tech.

I would love to wiremunky 700 homes. New construction rough-in will keep you in shape :).

Im telling you www.logoworks.com couldn't be happier, I was first reluctant because I couldn't go and "talk" to them but their revision form made it super easy and nailed what I wanted every time.

Congratulations on landing such a big contract! That is a big testament to your hard work and persistence. Well done!

Thanks, They start Monday and I'm already buried in work so growth is imminent at this point. I was going to bring Tony on back in February but things didn't work out and it appears he has landed and is doing well so I'm back to looking. I'm at that stress point where scheduleing is a bi*ch and trying to slide these in with the big projects. Nothing good comes out of being in a hurry except for the shiny new 1/8th inch hole I drilled through my left index finger yesterday while building a couple of subwoofer platforms in an attic. (That s*it hurt!).

LOL, I wouldn't call what I'm doing "doing well" but it pays the bills. I'm still kicking myself for being too big of a chicken to go all the way to Cali, but I do love Houston. I'm currently one of those "I love my career, hate my job" people (I really hope I'm right in assuming my boss doesn't read this forum).

Congrats on the big contract.

As for the hole through the index finger, maybe we should start a thread about work related injuries. I could fill a few pages with self inflicted stupidity

We just had a guy who was running wires in a commercial building where the ceiling grid was not yet installed, but the grid wires were hanging down.  He somehow reached his hand up so fast that the grid wire went into his had between two fingers and came out the back of his hand.  Ouch.  He couldn't pull his hand out so he had to cut the wire and drive to the hospital with it sticking out of his hand.

He went to the hospital, got bandaged up, and went straight back to the job like "what?  I wasn't finished running those wires."

Love it.

It's amazing how many injuries can be mended with a little electrical tape and/or Super Glue.

A framer was working alone on a saturday... He was at the apex of the framed section of a 20 foot vaulted ceiling section... He was standing on top of a 16 foot ladder, nailing some crap... He lost his balance, and in the midst of falling off the ladder (which fell by itself), he managed to nail his hand to the joist with a 16 penny nail gun. He literally hung there for about 20 minutes until neighbors heard his cries for help.

The fire department had to cut out that part of the joist and transfer the framer and the big chunk of wood to the ER.

Slept in until 8:30 after a very late 3 hour drive home last night.  Did rack gut/re-wire 3 hours away.  Still have to go back and add some engraved buttons, emitter covers, and get an electrician on-site to fix some rolling lines and code violations...

Before:

This is what they used the LV panel for.  As a place to attach the zip-tie..

Always a good place for a keypad, dangling behind the rack..  Notice the custom labeling designed to make servicing easy.

I have seen worse, but this pretty bad

Not enough outputs on your video switch?  just add some 'Y' cords to your video.  No one will notice those lines on the picture..

Remember this custom adapter?

This male-to-male power cord fed this:

Which in turn fed this:

That is a low-voltage relay fed from a lamp cord, into a male-to-male splice, feeding another fan.  The code violations keep racking-up.  No pun intended.  While on the subject of code violations, here is another fun one from another room in the same house:

Kustom modified recessed outlet with pass-through slot for cables..  I hope that's a ground wire showing back there....

Yes, we are going to fix it, but have to schedule another trip in a week or so.  This one slipped under the radar during the walk-through.

And here are the 'after' pics:

Now using the LV panel for what it was designed for:

I did not do the LV panel work, rather one of our other guys did this.

Not perfect, but better:

And to top it all off, I broke my little toe by stubbing it on a piece of furniture while working in this house. Good times!

This is awful. They should have used black electrical tape.. Is that an AMX touchpanel on the wall there?

There was a carpenter at a job once with a nail gun that would shoot twice. He was putting the plywood down for the roof. Everytime he shot a nail another would fly into the room we were working in as he lifted the gun. He shot himself in the hand. The whole construction company gathered around to perform surgery and they got the nail out and bandaged him up. He went back to work with the same nail gun and did it again 10 minutes later.

Yes, they/he continued to use the nail gun after that.

Stamp,
Yes, that's an MVP-8400 in our showroom. We pulled the rack, drove it over the mountains, and put it back together again. That was the only way we would touch the job, was with a complete pull/re-wire. No TPs in this job, just a lot of Metreau keypads and 4 of the MIO R4 remotes.
